i more or less agree that said orbeas are crap frames in more ways than one. 2 of my bros broke frames non-crash and got ****ed warranty wise no service at all even though it was not there fault. had a specialized s-works frame issue half there fault half mine (long story) regardless handled...
you do not lose 5lbs of adipose tissue in a day ever. you only lose or gain water weight in the lbs daily based on salt levels hydration and what you eat. seen my weight vary by ten lbs in a day.
i race cat 3 in socal i do a little racing each year sometimes more than others depending on condition. won a stage race and a climbing road race but normally dont put in enough miles to race all the road races as there nothing worse than racing out of form. i dont like crits very much too...

high modulus carbon is very stiff and rigid but will break before giving much.
lower modulus carbon is less stiff but flexes without breaking. this is why some carbon frames are far better than others. the best use a mix of low and high modulus carbon in various critical areas where it is...

flat effort are you familiar with momentum? imo a heavier bike and wheels would likely be better for a flat hour record. i always notice when carrying stuff home my speed stays higher once there from the added weight. of course only benefit flat ground individual stuff with no slow down speed up...
2 times i have broken ribs in my experience you can ride more or less right away though 24h rest is best and no high speeds deep breathing hurts and the ribs crack you can feel it getting out of the saddle also hurts. better than breaking a leg or something thats for sure.
