The 2024 CQ Ranking Manager Thread

Yeah, glad I didn't know about his plans of not racing on the road until Romandie, because then I wouldn't have taken him. :D

    Domenico Pozzovivo appreciation thread

This is an issue that doesn't get enough attention. Too often people complain about riders going for GC over stages but not everyone has a skillset to be a good stage hunter. + if everryone thought like that, there would be so many riders going for stages and so few for GC that going for GC...

He hasn't raced in 3 months so not sure if I would favour him over any of the guys I've mentioned.

Assuming that all riders are in decent form, my preferred TdF squad would be: Carapaz, Uran, Carthy, Powless, Healy, Bettiol, Van den Berg, Bissegger. Let's see what the real world has to say about my hypothetical preferred squad in 2 months.

He is the Hirschi of 2024.

    2024 Giro CQ Game

It's frustrating to see that the cheap picks that were the closest to making my team, but eventually got rejected, scoring well already or looking good to score later, while my own cheap picks don't do so great. PIetrobon and Piccolo already scored decently and Hirt looks on course for at least...

Penhoet is back. It's not looking good for me. :p

    2024 Giro CQ Game

Man, these games are too much for me sometimes... You spend an hour thinking about which cheap riders are likely to score some top10's from breakaways or something and then a guy with one of the least impressive palmares in the entire pro peleton scores a random 3rd place on a stage out of...

Who is the best descender (modern time) ?

People always mention Nibali as the best descender, but I remember watching him dropped on descends by guys like Ion Izagirre, Jarlinson Pantano and Marek Rutkiewicz. He was definetely good but not as legendary as some people make him to be IMO.

    2024 Giro CQ Game

If we're talking about riders that we've considered, I considered Hirt and Baudin, which both look among most promising riders of their price range at this stage, although I can't complain about my actual picks of Martinez and Chaves either.

    2024 Giro CQ Game

I would've definetely considered him had I not spent over 80% of my budget on Pogacar.

    2024 Giro CQ Game

I'm surprised 10 people decided not to include Quintana at the price of 16. But I guess it could make sense in some cases.

You're talking about the past, I was talking about the future. You have no idea what the future holds. :p

    2024 Giro CQ Game

My team has not been acknowledged so far. Funny thing, the same happened to me in the main CQ game this year, but it was skidmark forgetting to send me a message, not any message delivery issues. I'll re-send you my team once more just in case.

    2024 Giro CQ Game

Damn, I had a team ready but Hugh Carthy is not riding the race, after all, so I have to redo it.

Carthy was pretty mediocre this spring. Without him, this roster looks rather weak, though. Apart from Carr maybe, neither of those riders has shown particularly much this spring.

I wonder who they are going to take to Tour de France this year? I guess Carapaz, Healy are certain if they're healthy? I guess Uran unless he decided to skip it to prepare for the Olympics. Powless would definetely be in if he had any form but hasn't raced since early March and had a knee...
