So your saying because we don't personally know the Wiggins we shouldn't be calling this a jerk move? I'm sure in private Wiggins is a perfectly nice guy but we're not talking about who he is in private. We're talking about how he acts in public and how those actions make him look. And flipping someone off, no matter who it is, does not reflect well on his public persona. Wiggins has never been in the pubic eye as much as he is right now, he's not use to it. And he probably doesn't get that there is a certain way you should act.[/QUOTE]

not syaing that you or others are not allowed to criticize his gesture yesterday, i don't think it was the brightest move ever, my comment was related to the posts that were shown by people posting on the daily mail, judging him and his wife by their car they drive etc, etc. none of them no them and in no position to form an opinion based on what the bloody wing mirrors on the car look like. Fact is yes he has a responsibility nowadays, but he is not the first, nor the last sportsman, celebrity etc to lose their rag at some pap shoving a camera where it is not requied. there are far worst things in British society nowadays then a sportsman showing the finger. Even Seb Coe did it in 1984 when he won the Olympics 1500m and it did him little harm.

So...the reigning Tour-champion, "worlds most famous cyclist" according to some and the "supposed-to-be" patrón of the pelotón flips the bird to the public? What a way to draw more negative attention to cycling as it already is.

Need i say the Lance is strong with this one?

It's not exactly the sort of thing that improves the relationship between cyclists and motorists in traffic. Wiggins had a golden opportunity to get the road safety message out, but no, instead flips the finger into a camera. Way to promote cycling!

I think it has more to do with the fact that he's a brit and a brit that has won the tour de france than anything else i bet you it would be completely different had he been riding as say an italian or french rider.

It's just discrimination and it's really sad to see it.

I know someone who raced with his wife on the track a few times and she has a reputation of being a hard nut and not being scared of voicing her opinions

Wiggo can always apologize if he wants to. He's responsible for what he says, if he didn't mean it, then he can always say so. His actions speak louder.

The bloke is a tool.

If this was a footballer he would have been hung now by the majority of posters on here.
