Saw a little bit of a programme the other night of some folk covering Sandy Denny songs, but you can't beat the real thing.

Fotheringay doing a cover of Bob and The Band.

Actually I didn't know they were still making music. I'll check their latest album.

Oh, you're in for a huge surprise. They sound nothing like they did in How to Clean Everything now - you could say that era ended when former bassist John K. Samson left to form The Weakerthans (who, by the way, are my favourite band). It took me some time to adapt, but I think there's no comparison: Propagandhi are a much better band now than back then.

I'm not a fan of that more generic, NOFX-like punkrock they made back then.

I'll check it out, thanks for the tip.
Weakerthans are amazing. Bit sad they haven't produced anything in almost 6 years now.

Don't know, I don't consider Nofx generic at all. Sure after So long and thanks for all the shoes they lost a step, but in the 90s they were still the ones setting the trend in punk rock.

It's true Propagandhi developed a more personal sound in Today's Empire, which I happen to like a lot. Still I prefer How to clean everything cause it's raw, though derivative in the sound.

Even from that era, I'd say Less Talk, More Rock is better than How to Clean Everything. It certainly has more personality and it sounds less NOFX-like. It's still my second favourite Propagandhi record, after Supporting Caste (I don't know where to put Failed States yet).

I never liked NOFX much, although I do enjoy Punk in Drublic, The War on Errorism and, above all, S&M Airlines. Like many punk bands from the 80s/90s, I'd say they've spent the better part of the last decade turning into a joke.

Little Black Submarines -The Black Keys Great song, best I've heard in quite a few years. Might not sound that impressive but I love it.

I'm sure that I've posted this before, and I'll probably post it again. I loved this guy so much. He died less than 24 hours after I shot this.

RIP Iron Man
