I'm not familiar with the Tour Down Under course, but isn't there only one hilly stage with the remaining stages being flat?

Well Stage 3 actually includes more climbing, but at smaller gradients. And for me suits Gilbert better than Willunga itself. It's kinda a stage for a break holding like this year or EBH / Sagan / Gilbert winning.

Here's the profile : http://www.tourdownunder.com.au/docu...13-stage-3.pdf

Stage 2 is much harder. It's new, and it has this climb at 7 k from the finish line.

The TDU actually looks to have a pretty good parcours this year.

willunga could very well be too long and hard for gilbert, although usually he's in form early.

I thought that immediately.

But then if Gerrans can make it. So can Gilbert.

This might be within Gilbert's remit. This, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure isn't.

Are you sure? I remember they seemed to climb very slowly with Martinez trying to distance the others for a while and Gerrans kept coming back and won the sprint. It's not like Gilbert couldn't do the same against Pate, Martinez and Arrieta (?)....
