Yep, he has a mandate.

Quote:
That's the overwhelming conclusion from the polling out there. Just look at the RCP graph above. The Bloomberg poll is also stunning in its view of how most Americans understood the election to be exactly a choice between one approach - Bush/Cheney/Romney - and another - Obama/Clinton - and chose the latter decisively. Money quote:

Sixty-five percent of Americans say the Nov. 6 results gave Obama a “mandate” on his proposal to raise tax rates on income over $250,000 and “to get it done.” Forty-five percent of Republicans agree.

This is just ridiculous. You can't have shootouts in primary school. This has to be the point where the line is drawn and the US government starts to take action. What next? Shootouts in pre-schools or maternity wards?

Nope, they can't and won't take any action. Why? Because the god da mn NRA is all powerful, and because millions of morons will scream, 'Second Amendment', because after all, this inalienable right of man is etched in the stone of the 18th century, and nobody may ever, EVER **** with it because that would mean the instant end of life as we know it and the country would disintegrate into complete chaos.

Never mind how it would **** Glenn off.

Oh we'll put up all kinds of security measures and restrictions after a terrorist attack in an effort to prevent future terrorist attacks but after a mass shooting? We'll shrug our shoulders and not do a damn thing. Never mind that it's the 31st mass killing at a school since Columbine in '99, never mind that it's the third public mass murder this week alone. Guns aren't the problem, it's nutjobs having easy access to weapons of mass murder...er...scratch that, it's nutjobs that are the problem! The real solution, according to the NRA and the gunfreaks, is to have more people armed with more guns like this one that the killer reportedly used:

http://twitter.com/MarlowNYC/status/...775616/photo/1

Perfectly legal to own of these here. Just about anyone can buy one. Also perfectly legal to own a bullet proof vest like the one he was reportedly wearing. (Which kinda raises the question: what good would it have done if everyone at the school was armed, as the NRA and gunfreaks think would prevent such a mass murder, if the killer was wearing a bullet proof vest? Well, that's easy - if the answer to gun violence is more guns, then the answer to that must be more bullet proof vests too. So to follow the NRA's position to it's logical conclusion: all of us, kids included, should be armed to the teeth and wearing bullet proof vests all of the time.)

Welcome to the good ole' US of A, where there are more guns than people, and, on average, 87 gun-related deaths per day.

I swear to God, I have seen more than one whackjob on the Tea Party FB page suggest that this would never have happened if only................

...the teachers had been armed.

Another proudly wrote that his 7 year olds learned to shoot.

There is no helping these morons. They really should be separated from sane people. Seriously, let's give them some place and let them secede.

Horrific day in and for the USA. My thoughts and prayers to those who's lives were taken and those lives forever changed. Words cannot express...

If you have not seen it, Obama was outstanding.

The entire state here is in shock. Newtown isn't Detroit, or The Bronx. It's not even somewhere like Boston, its not a suburb of anything. A quaint town with bucolic neighborhoods and picturesque houses and churches, like from another time. What happened there is just shocking.

Hopefully this won't instantly turn political. Props to the President, he was visibly shaken when speaking today.
