I know you like to drink. Would you feel comfortable in a bar if everybody was packing a gun? What about a restaurant? What about anywhere, like the mall? Do you want to live in a society where any idiot at any moment in time could end your life?
Rules and laws are made to protect us from idiots. Unfortunately, that restricts some of the things we like to do. It's a trade off. I own a car that has been clocked at 186 mph in stock form, and I would love to not have speed limits. BUT, not with the tradeoff that all people could drive as fast as they wanted to.
Same thing with guns; I could carry a weapon whereever I go because I am not a nutjob. I gladly trade that "right" to restrict access of guns to idiots, or to make them less accessable and have more of a controlled situation to obtain them.
The alternative is that life is a bigger game of chance. Finding a nice median for reasonable gun restrictions, laws, etc. is the price we pay for being more safe than having unrestricted access to guns.
