Wind up of who? The 2 people slighted in the article are the 2 people in the peloton least likely to hear about it. Nor are either of them targetting the giro so theres no motive to wind them up in the first place.

I'd have to see the full interview, but it sounds like the sort of thing he woudl say after some stupid questions from journalists.

"Can you win? Who else stands a chance?"
"well, there's some Spanish guy from Katusha..."
