The only rules I follow ( either real or for joke), are these who make me feel safe and enjoy my bike rides.

I thought about this thread this weekend on the bike.

The key words in the question are Alone and With Headphones.

Having logged a few too many solo rides as of late headphones come in handy part of the time.

I can't help but think it might be safer to have a mirror regardless of tool/fred status.

Durain, I cant tell if your question is for real or not.

are you riding with phones and have you used the mirror. I know you dont have a bling bike so....

Definitely a good idea in racing/commuting/bunch rides etc. They are those most covert, aero yet functional mirror on the market. I like it in group rides cos you can see the pain on the faces of the riders behind you and then click it up a few extra watts and watch the faces hurt even more! Alternatively you can be hurting but the faces behind you are talking and have their mouths shut in between sentences!

Not bad for safety too if you are like me and ride with headphones on country roads.

Ive used a few and rate this one the best. Been running it for a few years now.

I like.

Do these only tape on properly to a racing bike handle? What about mountain bike type handles, the straight handlebars?

Yea, headphone (note no s) is OK for rides and just cuz one is in my ear does not mean there sound going to it all the time. Someone commented to me once, you have the headphone in your ear yet you are the one yelling out car back and the rest are riding as if they're deaf. There is no reason anyone can't look back from time to time, especially when its way too quiet or you can hear the squeaky fan belt approaching. Have to admit have been caught off guard with electric cars.

I ride with bunches all over the world and from all over the world when they come visit Radelaide - the best recreational cycling city on earth.

Im not a member of a club because I like doing my own thing when I want but do see the value in sporting clubs.

I get that. A Prius making a low speed right turn is quieter than my freewheel or even my cassette chain engaged freaky that
