the funny thing is that it's still not official. There must be some problems with Lampre and/or Scarponi.
Anyway, imho Cunego is doing Giro/Vuelta/Lombardia/Worlds while Scarponi'll do Giro/Tour.

Yeh course its true but I had only heard of it when Eshnar told it to me..
Anyway it would have seemed obvious as Lampre seem to try their hardest to only appear in the Giro and some other italian races.
It would interesting to see what help they give Pettachi, or what happens to him at all concerning the Giro now that it seems like scarponi and cunego are doing tge Giro

For istance, here's his answer to a guy that spotted him in the pre-list of Lampre for the Giro and asked if he wanted to do both Ardennes and Giro:

29 march 2012.
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Petacchi is not going... he'll do the Tour.
Lampre will be gc only in the Giro

Wow! Was that a decison forced by the Lampre management? because Pettachi was brilliant at the Giro last year and sucked everywhere else and of course it is his home race.

I don't know. I heard some declarations from him and he stated since last year that he's doing the Tour and not the Giro. I don't know why. Anyway he's not in Lampre preselection so he's definitely NOT going.

The Giro winner 2012 is known: Thomas Dekker will ride the Giro.

I knew this would happen. No Tour for him, though of course he still thinks he has a chance.

Does anybody believe someone but Basso, Nibali and Scarponi can win the Giro?

Yeah some people believe in Rujano's chances, but you knew this already.
