What country are you in and what kind of trails are you planning to ride?

No Merida, No Specialized

The only advice I have is to take Merida and Specialized off your list.

They are unapologetic litigants using intellectual property law to protect themselves from legitimate competition.

As for the rest, they are all about the same since most of them come from one or two manufacturers.

Doesn't Canyon sell bikes in North America?

Probably best to buy the best frame you can then piece it together off Ebay. Anything under 1,500 with suspension fork and gears will compromise components and the wheels will be boat anchors

I bought a Jamis full suspension MB for under $1500. I would check them out. They seem to give good value for your $$$
It was all I could do to submit this comment I don’t know where the inspiration came from…

What kind of trails will you be riding?

I would avoid piecing a bike together from online sources.....unless you know what you're doing. There are lots of standards floating around out there and oem spec can be pretty good these days.

Came across this one today, way under $1500. Best value I've found so far. I'm looking under $1000, unfortunately!
