Actually, Riccò was in "quarantine", came back with Ceramica Flaminia and when he signed for them Vacansoleil were still ProConti, while Scarponi came back with Androni Giocattoli and rode for them for two years before returning to the ProTour with Lampre. Scarponi did things exactly as had previously been the informal agreement, that ProTour teams would leave the returning dopers alone for a couple of years to see how they did before bringing them back. Millar was one of the first exceptions to that agreement in fact, predating Basso who was the most high profile exception until Vino.

Facts are that the guy may have had his 2003 gold stripped from him but he still has his silver medal from Portugal in his pocket. If he is anti-doping then presumably he is holding onto that silver because he did not dope and won it clean. If he did not dope and he missed out to gold, getting within seconds of a fully charged Ulrich and in that top 10 many have been popped since, it would appear that his ride was one of the most awesome ever in the history of the world TT champs. After all, the testing for epo was so poor it never caught him when he was a user. It didn't catch Jan and Jan has now confessed.

What about Frank Schleck and Ulissi?

Lampre never fired Ulissi, so he still had a contract with Lampre after his short ban.
Frank also got a reduced ban for political reasons and the new Trek team resigned him.

Schleck > Trek to Trek..........

T Dekker > Garmin, got 3 years

Basso > CSC to Liquigas/Cannondale then back to Riis
Valverde > Straight back to Abarca
Ricco > Saunier Duval to Vacansoleil
Contador > Saxo to Saxo
Millar > Cofidis to Saunier Duval then Garmin
Scarponi > Lampre to Lampre
White > Orica to Orica
Julich > Sky to BMC
Yates > Sky to Saxo

Not the best analogy there Sammy

You seem confused about what riders were banned in 2013/14 where my list is based?

I was looking at recent 2 year bans from 2013/14 only and riders that would be returning in 2016. I think you can still come back directly into top level with a 1 year ban for recreational and weight loss / tweaking drugs, but not the epo and testosterone and blood passport violations.

Millar knows where the bodies are buried.

If the BC establishment don't keep Il Millarisimo sweet and provide him with the opportunities he believes he's earned and deserves, he might just get 'anti-doping' on Sky's @@@. All unsaid. Doesn't need to be said. All good. Jobs for the boys. Jobs for the whiny little prima donna throw their bikes over the line at the Angliru @@@@@.

I luuurve David Millar. Why was he never BBC Sports Personality of the Year?

I'm sure he would have voted for himself.

Tilford on Millar dream... errr fantasy team

http://stevetilford.com/2016/02/16/david-millars-cyclingnews-dream-team-is-really-a-fantasy/

Alsa how could Millar not remind us once again of the many victims of the "incredibly difficult period". So Millar calls Hesjedal a maverick...was this cause he doped as a mountain biker but went clean to try and bring home the gold from Athens in 2004 as he transitioned F'T to the road? :p

Strange he didn't include Armstrong.

I thought that was a windup when I first read it. This guy can really take the p*ss. It's not even funny any more.

I seem to remember a while ago seeing Millar look a journalist in the eye and say that he rode better as a clean athlete. I think the reasoning behind this is that he was mercifully free of the guilt of doing something so shockingly awful. There is no end to the b*llshit this guy will pedal. So on top of everything else we now know that cleanness makes you a more effective competitor. The same must go for all the others at Garmin, and the rest of the dopers who come back with equally good or better results. It's that feelgood factor of knowing that you are more honest than everyone else.

do yourselves all a favour and pick up some Dave Millar Castelli kit, or, Castelli by Dave Millar, so stylish, so refined... leaves Rapha and Assos and the NZ cycling kit co Solo... leaves them far behind in his wake. so stylish. buy some kit. buy some David Millar kit.

If you really want to know what young David prefers, my friend,
you could join one of the "Ultimate Cycling" weekends in April at
the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel in Mallora. After your ride (with a
Maserati support vehicle) wearing your David Millar Chpt.III Castelli
kit (included) and a spa recovery session you will join David for dinner
each evening. Some might like to chat about his professional cycling
career but I'm sure he would answer any questions you have about his
choice of alcoholic beverages. :)
