"Angus Fraser was named in a deposition in a case settled out of court in the United States in which he was alleged to have administered performance-enhancing drugs to former US junior cyclists in 1990 without their knowledge or consent. The Scotsman was also said to have injected riders on the British team ANC-Halfords with unknown substances in the 1980s."

Fraser connected to lots, including Sutton.

Cycling is a small sport.

" Blair made substantial improvement in her late 20s, which took her from being a decent club athlete to representing her country. Last year she set a near three-metre personal best of 57.44m at the British Athletics Championships, which placed her seventh on the British all-time list and gave her a first national title ahead of the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Goldie Sayers."

What was that garbage I was reading in the "Lappartient is worse for cycling than Cookson?" thread re. Cavendish and about it being a neat, normal thing that Cav took 8 seconds off his ip pb . between the Worlds and Rio. Why do people who know so little about cycle sport make such comments?

Didn't even have to do anything.

UK Border Force made the bust, and just handed over the case.

True. Not a great look having Wiggins for your flagship as your best ever.

Durham batsman Jack Burnham has been banned for a year after testing positive for a recreational drug.

The 20-year-old failed the test under the England and Wales Cricket Board's illicit drugs policy after providing a hair sample in September.

This is as far as I can tell outside the remit of UKAD, and is crickets own internal policy about recreation use of illegal drugs.
Never heard of a hair test being using under the WADA code.

I'd imagine his goal is getting the f'ing knighthood that everyone else with similar success has had.

The question is why are they being busted now?

Options

Sportsmen & women have only just started using coke? Seems unlikely.

New guidance from UKAD? Possible but why this rather than PEDs?

New better bit of kit that enables more/better detection? Again why the focus here?

New broom at UKAD that wants to highlight a few mid-tier athletes to make examples of so other more high profile people will take the threats of exposure seriously and pay the necessary bung?

Something else?
