One group will say: typical bloody UCI, busting someone ahead of a Grand Tour just to let people think anti-doping works.

Another group will say: riders doping before the biggest objective of the season, whoever woulda thunk it?

He wasn't riding any worse when he was on JV's all singing all dancing clean team

I'm being unfair, JV's team doesn't persistently shout in everyone's eyes HAVE WE MENTIONED WE'RE CLEAN TODAY BECAUSE WE TOTALLY ARE. Only Sky do that. Oh and Marc Madiot.

Damn, and here I was, thinking I should start a poll about which rider would return the usual positive test before the Tour :(
Let's hope it won't affect Contador's chances too much.

My initial reaction is, how can a rider be so stupid to get busted for EPO in the modern era of cycling. Will likely be ostracised now, just another lamb to the slaughter in the ongoing pantomime. Meanwhile the UCI are showing that they have doping under control ahead of the tour!

Another rider connected to the "Clean Team" that JV promised was real....

Wow, what kind of WT rider gets busted for EPO these days?

Perhaps thought he would be OK pushing the boundaries a bit on the back of an altitude camp in Tenerife.

Zubeldia will probably have no problem with this. Cardoso would be a pretty meaningless mountain domestique anyways in this race, so no harm.

Zubeldia woulda needed to be on some serious fuel considering his 2003-performance where he climbed brilliantly considering his more stabile and not so great level for the rest of his career. Remember Ax-3-Domaines? He was a beast.

Great news. This gives me hope that Trek has been serious in their prep for the tour. Hopefully, the rest of the squad has been on similar and ready to give SKy BMC etc. a run for their money

He would likely have been Contador's 2nd best domestique in the mountains behind Pantano, so not meaningless at all.
I'm happy for Zubeldia, but he's not going to be as valuable as Cardoso, not even close.

2nd time one of Contador's most important domestiques gets popped just before the Tour. Coincidence?
