Let's hope that they keep her in prison and that drivers start to get the message that using their vehicle as a weapon is unacceptable.

Really it's a wonder that the road toll for cyclists isn't much higher. She should have had to pay for his medical costs and been banned from driving for life as well as the prison sentence. I bet if the roles were reversed and the cyclist was a pregnant woman the sentencing would have been much different.

she did that 'literally' around the corner from the stoke-newington police station!

3 years is a joke, surely. 30 years makes more sense. No one will miss her.

It's not just the physical injuries - hope she can overcome her problems.

Wow, this is pretty horrific from NSW. Likely not a case of
wilful misconduct by the driver but it would appear to be
negligence with a very disastrous outcome.

Mr. Little would seem to be a man of some taste, rocking
a vintage Clamont. Best of luck to him in what will possibly
be a very long and painful recovery.

I know this is wrong, but it's the first thing I thought of...

That said, I've gone for a 30-40metre slide on the tarmac after getting taken out at 55kmh, and the road rash was pretty bad. Would hate to think of doing that for 200m!

More carnage. How don't you see three cyclists ? Probably drugs. All too familiar.

Well it seems to be an effective starting point for a defense if the history of such cases is any indication. Clean record ? No problem 50 hours community service and licence suspended for 6 months. Compared to what the victims families go through........................

Honestly, sometimes it seems people "forget" that they're supposed to look out for cyclists too...

Ah, the old "I didn't see them" routine, which roughly translated is "I didn't look", although everyone falls for it.
Much like that other one from accidental shootings; "I was cleaning it"... sure, because your gun is always loaded while you're cleaning it...
File under "that's my story and I'm sticking to it", which somehow seems to work.

After the recent death in the Pacific Wheelrace, this...
https://cyclingtips.com/2017/06/competitor-eric-fishbein-killed-vehicle-ultra-endurance-race-across-america/

And Perth's at it again...
http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/elderly-cyclist-killed-in-4wd-collision-in-coolup/news-story/b370321cad786afdfe204c349c29a0a5

even worse is the media... "after his bike collided with a four-wheel drive" as if getting hit was somehow him actually hitting the 4WD...

That'd have to be the only cycling article published by the telegraph that doesn't have a comments section...
