http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/383701-senators-demand-info-on-unusual-surveillance-activity-in-dc
Four senators on Wednesday requested that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disclose additional information about cellular surveillance activity around Washington, D.C.

Reuters reported that Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) asked DHS to provide more information on a recent report that indicated foreign actors or criminals have been using eavesdropping devices to track cell phone activity around the nation’s capital.

“The American people have a legitimate interest in understanding the extent to which U.S. telephone networks are vulnerable to surveillance and are being actively exploited by hostile actors,” the senators wrote.

They noted in their letter that DHS had briefed federal agencies about the surveillance, but has not made details of the briefing public.

DHS wrote Wyden late last month and told the senator it came across unauthorized cell-site simulators in the Washington, D.C., area last year. Such devices, also known as "stingrays," can track a user's location data through their mobile phones and can intercept cellphone calls and messages.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-18/u-s-debt-load-will-be-worse-than-italy-s-by-2023-imf-predicts
In five years, the U.S. government is forecast to have a bleaker debt profile than Italy, the perennial poor man of the Group of Seven industrial nations.

The U.S. debt-to-GDP ratio is projected widen to 116.9 percent by 2023 while Italy’s is seen narrowing to 116.6 percent, according to the latest data from the International Monetary Fund. The U.S. will also place ahead of both Mozambique and Burundi in terms of the weight of its fiscal burden.

The numbers put renewed focus on the U.S. deteriorating budget after the enactment in December of $1.5 trillion in tax cuts, and the passage more recently of $300 billion in new spending. President Donald Trump’s administration argues that the tax overhaul combined with deregulation will help the economy accelerate, which in turn will generate enough extra revenue to avoid any fiscal fallout.

Officials with the Federal Reserve and Congressional Budget Office are skeptical about those expectations, as they forecast long-term economic growth will fall short of expansion rates needed to fund tax cuts. The central bank’s most recent forecasts show a median estimate of 2.7 percent for this year’s expansion slowing to 2 percent in 2020, while the CBO sees GDP growth slowing from 3.3 percent this year to 1.8 percent in 2020.

Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, speaking in an interview Wednesday with Tom Keene on Bloomberg Television, said lowering corporate tax rates was a good move. “The trouble, unfortunately, is it’s unfunded,” he said, adding that Republicans should have done “spending cuts first before you try to do tax cuts.”

Dunno. Maybe background check all knife purchasers. Or the good mayor could consult with David Hogg. Boycott banks that lend to knife producers. Legislation will always stop the bad guy and I think Khan is real serious.

After murder rate passes NYC, London Mayor Sadiq Khan calls for sharper knife control

"No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife," Khan tweeted. "Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law."

Nonsense.

The answer is more knives. It takes a good guy with a knife to stop a bad guy with a knife.

Give teachers knives.

Do we finally see Attorney General Giuliani? :D

https://www.axios.com/report-rudy-giuliani-is-joining-trumps-legal-team-a3bbc72d-965b-4473-9c09-5bb4893906b3.html
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is joining Trump's personal legal team to help represent Trump in special counsel Robert Mueller's ongoing Russia investigation, announced Jay Sekulow, counsel to the president, in a statement Thursday.

We're getting closer! :D

https://news.sky.com/story/russia-we-told-us-where-in-syria-they-could-not-bomb-11338625
Russia has revealed it warned the US about "red lines" it should not cross before it launched airstrikes on Syria.

Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is reported to have said that officials in Washington were contacted before last weekend's strikes by the US, UK and France.

Mr Lavrov said: "There were military leadership contacts, between generals, between our representatives and the coalition leadership.

"They were informed about where our red lines are, including red lines on the ground, geographically. And the results show that they did not cross these red lines."

Yeah. It's the mainstream media's fault. Would be funny if not so predictable.

When it becomes known that Trump has used his DOJ/FBI/CIA to spy on political opponents I don't think you'll see the same "wait and see" attitude from those currently trying their best to remove the current freely elected President.

My opinion of course.

Edit: Point is, if the press did their job the numbers would be close on both sides. Or to be even more plain, pols are corrupt. It's not complicated.

So I'm guessing the average informed Democrat is really missing Debbie Wasserman Schultz right about now.

I'm seeing a little bias in that title. Let me try.

Democratic Party Sues Russia, Trump, Wikileaks For Conspiring To Disrupt the 2016 Election.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/20/democratic-party-files-suit-alleging-russia-the-trump-campaign-and-wikileaks-conspired-to-disrupt-the-2016-election-report.html

It's safer that way. Then there's no Hillary trigger word to set people off.
