I grew up in the far north of the state, but in a much different time (although time is still slow up there). Here in Boise today's display is a rarity (and probably wouldn't occur ever except that they need to have their gatherin' at the capitol). Boise (treasure valley area in general) is much more enlightened than most of the rest of the state...as you said, we not only accept different color turf, we embrace it!

Britain’s leading Muslim organisation has called on the Home Office to refuse a UK visa to a prominent US evangelical preacher with links to Donald Trump and a track record of Islamophobic and homophobic statements.

Franklin Graham, the son of the evangelist Billy Graham, has been invited to preach at a Christian festival in Blackpool this month.

Dirt stated things pretty modestly..Idaho is awesome..fishing,hunting,cycling of all kinds, camping, great skiing..of all kinds and snowshoeing for the hardcore.the place can give a high desert feel or you could be Canadian confused that you are South of the border.. I went for years to Ore-Ida women's challenge..I also spent time in Mt.Home..I am constantly depressed by Arizona and Idaho...states I love being a lure for the right and an extreme way of thinking..

Isn't this just some basic economics? Coal and the oil giants have endless money..they are huge organized employers....who or what is the renewable lobby?
Is there a solar panel or wind turbine lobbyist that would get a congressional call back before an oil person?
And now that Trump is in..Coal shills get attention again after their influence was almost over..
We have seen all this before..Ralph Nader calling for safety..the industries he called out called him a crack pot...and their smear was pretty good. Lead and asbestos...they all said the science was junk...we had doctors in lab coats telling of their preference in cigarettes...yep that's American history...and nothing new about building bomb or "fallout" shelters . The big difference there is a no confidence vote is given to the U.S. and the bunkers are being built in New Zealand for goodness sake.....? Something tells me that the doomsday survival plans have old data on how well airports operate in crisis mode...a flight from LA or New York to any New Zealand airport is going to be sketchy..
When people said the moon landing was done on a sound stage..that the government was running a space alien prison in remote New Mexico..that Elvis was running a laundromat in Michigan...we used to laugh at those people...now they w watching Fox news and beating off to Alex Jones videos..
When I see people claim to be conservative Christian and there leader starts off by paying off porn stars to stay in their good graces..has jammed or asked to jam his orange Tootsie roll in any lady willing to lay down for him..cheated on all his wives..bragged about sexually using women because he could..and now suddenly has an interest in religious activity...who is more fake? Make America great again..but as a vote of confidence build a bunker in New Zealand...now that's a deep faith in Trump and God..

I think you miss the point: you and Busted are here daily ranting about Trump , his persona and his debasement of leadership, rather than focusing on what’s happening on his watch.

Forget him, the office and some perverted notion of nationhood and focus on what’s happening (as you do at a localized level), otherwise nothing is being said.

Aphro what I see happening on his watch is multifaceted..but I will stick to what I touch, feel and taste almost daily..first.. " it's the economy stupid " ..Trump has real policy and some straw BS like Harley,Apple and Ford.he jabs at Amazon but for the most part it looks like most Americans would take a high paying job killing Democratic babies if the price is right..that is not Trump that is all the United States.
Second is racism and sexism...Trump knew it was there are he acted on it..Transgender bathrooms, gay marriage, equal rights, equal opportunity...all BS topics to majority America...we will get to after we take care of the basics...and as you well know we can even list the basics let alone start making a list and crossing stuff off..so #metoo equals so what to majority America..Trump has blown his dog whistle and millions of ears are perked up...he is making things liberal issues like clean air and water..those are things that might need to be sacrificed to restore the economy...what ever that means..all these issues are seen as high brow ...extra..not essential..
The elite are applauding Trump because he won't entertain redistribution...NFW..so the answer to why a guy needs multiple billions of dollars..and a tax break..because he can..and the second part of everything Trump is because that's the American way...Trump has an audience..he has results and momentum...
Soon we will watch a Shia-Sunni look alike here in the US..a Republican political wing will shape women's reproductive rights against the will of the majority and do it all openly in the name of a sub-sect of religion..Trump is not doing anything in private...not his sexism, racism utter disregard for the environment..nothing...
Trump has convinced that if we didn't spend time and money debating gay rights we would be richer and more productive..if we stopped all things immigrant no jobs,no social programs, no assistance..again richer and more prosperous..
Foreign aid...again something extra..we need to stop and we will give once our economy is back on track...
The elite are silly...period...people who have cash for architects, engineers and lawyers to build a bunker in New Zealand are not an issue..they don't reflect anything or anybody...
I recently listened to a radio program about Beyonce...the guests on the show were going on about all the guidance young black women get from her lyrics..and they drooled out about what a strong role model she is for all black women..at one point they mentioned that while on tour she had a contractual promise of @$6.5 million dollars per show...so ago listening for a bit I had to wonder what life lessons women, black women were learning from Beyonce..
What should all of us ask if we have the chance of Zuckerburg or Musk? What are they thinking? How can it help? How can Jeff Bezos desire for a bunker from a possible nuclear war help me?
If you have an answer for any of these questions..you have Trump essence..Trump repeats similar things and most w America thinks it's complete horseschit.
A guy in Michigan,Iowa,Georgia,South Dakota...Idaho!!!!doesn't want a dime spent on gay marriage, planned parenthood, college loans, transgender bathrooms...all you have to do...follow Hillary's lead..talk about this stuff and you lost..And now the Democratic machine is parading a 28 to Ocasio Cortez talking socialism..? I see Trump for another four years...and I would have never said this before now..he may stay longer..I can see politicians drinking the Kool-Aid and some Putin -American hybrid President for life...
If people think we have a great economy..that is reality..anything real doesn't matter...

Great article, led by the head Aryan'..trump..so much for trump's '4th Reich'...
This fear of “incipient minority” status is ubiquitous in contemporary right-wing discourse: white nationalists accuse the government of programmatically causing “white genocide,” while conservative opinion-makers issue dire warnings about progressives in annihilationist terms, describing them as “vicious” people “who will micromanage every aspect of your life” and “want to destroy you.” For white identitarians, changing demographics will inevitably lead to the loss of white sovereignty and the demise of so-called Aryan civilization. A related sense of second-class status is also what mainstream conservatives conjure when they decry the stifling quality of “political correctness.” Thiel has called the liberal environment in the San Francisco Bay area “a one-party state,” while Niall Ferguson channeled these feelings of inferiority when he recently tweeted, “Conservatism is on the brink of extinction in much of academia.”

BUT he's the face of all this..he has the 'bully pulpit', people flock to him for his racism...yes he is a symptom and removing his won't change the disease in the US but it'll be a start.

Really disgusting how he kisses the butt of this little murderer but no surprise..bet trump watched the entire NK parade, with lust on his eyes..
North Korea has just staged their parade, celebrating 70th anniversary of founding, without the customary display of nuclear missiles. Theme was peace and economic development. “Experts believe that North Korea cut out the nuclear missiles to show President Trump......

...its commitment to denuclearize.” @FoxNews This is a big and very positive statement from North Korea. Thank you To Chairman Kim. We will both prove everyone wrong! There is nothing like good dialogue from two people that like each other! Much better than before I took office.

dt tweeted that the GDP rate is higher than unemployment rate for the first time in 100 years, but that has happened a few dozen times in the last ~75 years so who is he trying to convince?

to apro's assertion, I know pointing that out really doesn't accomplish anything. The point though is that many of the people who I saw at the Amendment II gathering on Saturday will read that tweet and believe it.

Why is trump here and not in NYC? My guess is security and the obvious demonstrations that would be at his appearance..
“I happen to think that they had not only a plane, but they had bombs – bombs that exploded simultaneously.

Just hours after the attack, Trump, 72, went on to brag that one of his buildings was now the tallest in downtown Manhattan.

Speaking on a local radio station, he said: “40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan…And now it’s the tallest.”

The guy is just too stupid to just STFU, get off twitter and talk about the economy..

It would be one thing if the economy were all the president was tweeting about. But the constant whirl of disorder that he drums up often drowns out his arguments about jobs and growth -- as became clear as soon as Sanders took over the podium from Hassett. Normalcy evaporated and the acrimony and sheer strangeness of the everyday story of the Trump administration took over.

The questions underlined how the turmoil in the White House, most of which can be traced directly to Trump, has led to a crisis of trust and authority in the administration and is muffling GOP attempts to highlight sweeping tax cuts and deregulation as the root of economic strength.

In the longer term, the furor facing Sanders underlined one of the central themes of the midterm campaign so far -- that the humming economy should have put Trump in a far better position than he is in currently. There is also the related unknown of whether his outbursts and erratic nature are scaring off some voters who otherwise might be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt if they feel good about the economy.
Trump's habitual overshadowing of his own optimum message was also evident when Hassett was forced to concede that the president had not told the truth when he tweeted Monday that the GDP rate is higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in 100 years.

I pulled this quote about Trump from someone on twitter but it sums up our times well. "his naif stupidity sort of throws into relief how f---ing stupid our entire enterprise is". It was said in reference to our Afghan policy, but it could be used for a lot of current topics.
None of us alone are as stupid as all of us together.

Is the economy humming though? Even if there are some positives, all signs point to a plummet. If you jump off of a cliff you fly pretty fast...until you hit the ground.

EDIT: First a disclaimer: I know that my personal money doesn't necessarily reflect the economy as a whole, but that IS how many people judge the economy.

With that said, the small amount I get from the "massive" tax plan isn't nearly enough to cover the increase in my property tax, grocery bill, electric bill, water bill, vehicle registration, etc. All increased because of the economy that is being created. By many measures, by people/firms in the know, the economy is actually worse if adjusted for inflation.

EDIT 2: Also, wait until the effects of the tarrifs are felt.
