No mention of Kirk Gibson's walk-off to end Game 1 of the 1988 World Series? Gibson was so injured he was not even in the game until that pinch hit, and in fact didn't play another game in the series. He could barely hobble around the bases after the HR. The A's were favored that series, and in the lead with Dennis Eckersley who was lights out at that time pitching. Gibson's HR was so dramatic, it not only won the game, it completely crushed the A's morale as a team for the rest of the series, and the Dodgers won in 5 games.
By the time Kirk Gibson reached his locker, bullpen coach Mark Cresse had written "R. HOBBS" on a piece of paper and taped it over Gibson's nameplate.
I should note, I'm an A's fan, and both at the time, and even to this day am amazed by Gibson's at bat.

Which team am I supposed to cheer for now?

I have a hard time imagining that this trend will continue, as Merckx stated, the Cubs have more talent across the board. I still think Cleveland was fortunate that Texas completely crumbled against Toronto, as the Rangers were the best team in the AL on paper. So being up 1-0 is their best chance to win the series, and an 'equalizer" in my mind. But they are hot, and are playing well at the right time.
As to their Chief Wahoo logo Merckx refers, to, I too find this to be basically racist, and I'm glad the team has "demoted" it officially to a secondary logo, with the block C, and feather logo primary. But they really should just retire Chief Wahoo once and for all. The name Indians is borderline as is, though not nearly as offensive as "Redskins".
