Nothing at all, I've actually loved ABBA since I was a kid. I think they were all excellent musicians.

But a lot of times you get giggles because ABBA was a bit "lightweight" compared to something like the hard rockers, and whatnot.

Nothing wrong with a fine pop sensibility. There are far worse things than ABBA. And I find that only the most undeveloped rockers can bust on music that one first knew as a child.

I'm glad you mentioned the genre of music, in the case of ABBA it was 70s pop. Well, mostly anyway, they did dabble in some other stuff.

Hard rock, prog, hip-hop, R&B, classical, reggae bands, etc., should all be judged differently, methinks, and on their own merits and within their own classifications. But then you get the cross-overs, and then things can get very messy...

I think ABBA was an awesome pop band with some awesome composers and awesome singers. Don't think there is any point in comparing them to any other genre than 70s and early 80s pop.

So there, hard rockers! :p

My 14 year old heard Eric Clapton for the first time at the weekend. "He sounds like Abba," she said. She has a point.

The new Linkin Park album just leaked. Seems like the first time is also gonna be the last time listening to it.

Like this band. Thanks.

Opening here for Ty Segall tonight through Friday. Don't need to say you should go if either come around.

Just heard that Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame passed away a few hours ago :(

His music with Soundgarden was a large part of my teen years.

An amazing singer and songwriter, he'll be missed.
