It's funny you mention Elvis Costello. I said to a friend the other day that I have no idea why people like his music.
He's one of those guys that receives critical acclaim, and I've really tried to like his music. I mean, I love music and I felt like I was missing something. But truth be told, I hate every single song the guy has ever sung.

P.S. Not trying to be combative here. To each their own and all that.

Costello's music and style takes time to digest for most and still lots of it seems strangely unappetizing. Still I do like his Alison.

Always been a great fan of Winwood's vocal quality and he adds significantly to Clapton's guitar here:

Hot For Teacher - Van Halen

Think the video is stupid, but I still like the song. (Especially the opening and extended drumming version.)

I don't speak the language, but that video was a joke, right?
Part of me wants to acknowledge and like some of the musical aspects that remind me of bands like Codeine and, to a certain extent, Mogwai. But without understanding the lyrics, that video is super cheesy.

Let's put all this aside for moment.
The Giro is in Israel, and so is the Fall.
Enjoy!

I'm a little bit slow, considering it happened yesterday, but here goes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHX7XkcqfJs

I don't think it's an official video. I don't think the band have any. The conversational element of the lyrics and the band name suggest that Arab Strap (which is probably where the Mogwai link comes from, since the two bands collaborated plenty) is the primary influence.

You Anglophones don't know how much you're missing out by your low tolerance to lyrics you can't understand.

You mean language or lyrics?
I'm confused.
If you're referring my low tolerance to lyrics, I honestly have no clue what you're talking about.
If you're referring to language, again, I have no idea what you mean by low tolerance.
I am totally embarrassed to say I can only speak one language. I'm even more embarrassed to say I don't speak it well, but I digress.
To sum up, I have no idea what you're talking about.

I mean low tolerance to lyrics in a language you can't understand. It's fine not to be able to speak other languages, but I think that shouldn't be an obstacle to appreciate music. It's an attitude that I think many Anglophones have because most of the music they're exposed to throughout their lives will be in their language so they can afford it, so to speak. But as a non-native speaker who remembers really getting into many English-language songs because knowing any English, I think it's a severe and unnecessary limitation.

edit: not even saying this is your case, by the way. Your post merely reminded me of this.
