Hellner has had a tough season thus far. The rumors are this will be his final season.

Ustiugov shouldn't have raced yesterday if he had back pain. Why risk anything a month before the Olympics? Cramer apparently said he could barely move. If that's true that's a terrible sign. Hopefully he can sort that out and recover.

This opens the door for everyone to probably Holund. Poltoranin is not good enough on this climb. Harvey had an ok climb last year, Sundby isn't in great form and nobody knows what Bolshunov is capable as this is his first tour. Interested to see ho far Manificat can move up and what Chervotkin can do.

Sundby resurrection wasn't that much of surprise, but Harvey and Poltoranin were suprisingly strong. Great race for the podium!

Bolshunov was probably the most tired skier I've seen for a long long time. He really popped big time. Glad he is still young which should make the recovery quicker and easier. But he definitely needs rest for next couple of weeks.

Bolshunov probably collaborated a lot with Sundby and pushed hard early on because he was afraid of Holund catching him, in the end he cracked pretty hard.
Diggins was also able to suffer like a dog, she really surprised me.

Lol at Fourcade mocking the 3 norwegians after the shooting. Damn, those half an hour Biathlon-races makes for some terrific television.

How many relay teams for the XC would he not get in?

Dario! :)
Very happy to see Cologna back in good form.
Also Bolshunov really cracked at the end
I think it's the sign of a clean rider and a real sportsman to be attracted to the bigger challenge over the ultimate result. Good luck with the Giro/Tour double, Chris Froome. -Phil Gaimon

Overall good races today. I certainly would still prefer longer loos than only 2,5km ones.
Anyway, I think Sundby made a mistake competing in this one. He's clearly Fading and I don't think this will help him at all in his quest for olypic Gold.
The swedes need a miracle if they want to repeat in Korea what they did in 2010 and 1014.
By the way, talking about the olympics. Does anyone know if the profiles of the xc skiing trails can be seen anywhere on the iternet? I couldn't find anything. Or maybe someone remebers last year's world Cup. What are the tracks like?

If I remember correctly the Skiathlon track wasn't bad, Sedov demolished the competition.

The Pyeongchang races last year were held early evening, so it was hard to really gage what the courses were like. I think they seem like standard World Cup FIS courses. Not the hardest but probably not the easiest course. Not a lot of technical downhills, nor seemingly super steep pitches where you'll see everyone getting out of the track to herringbone. The sprint loop actually seems like it's harder than a normal sprint course but the distance races look fairly standard, in my opinion. The courses also look to be wide enough so hopefully there won't be many falls, accidents, equipment issues, traffic, etc.

The concerns I have is the weather. The monthly outlook (as of now) doesn't look all that great. We could be seeing a third straight winter Olympics with low snow packs and warm weather.

That was a big surprise, not Fourcade winning, but having a much better ski time that JTB.

Yeah, Fourcade was incredibly fast yesterday. When Boe was 18/18 and missed, damn. That would have been a super exciting finish then, but Fourcade is just too good, even when missing apparently... Looking forward to Friday and Sunday
