Chess! Do you play?

15 Feb 2013 22:43

Are there chess players in here?
Are you a professional?
Amateur?
Do you play only once per year?
This is the thread for you :)
We could also play against each other online! Or make a CN tournament :D

PS
I'm an amateur, lately I started studying some theory (never did before) but overall I suck. :p

I play on my iPhone and I have a really nice chess board at home which sadly does not get used.

I played as a child, but have only used my chess skills on occasion as an adult.

I like to play against my family/ friends but have never been in a tournament.

I like Sicilian Defence/ vary it a bit.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong

I Played for my school and University and have payed in an International Inter University championship. No ELO rating though. Haven't played for about 3 years now and is not up to date with any new openings.
However keen to start playing again.

I used to play quite a bit against my grandfather, but I sorta stopped when I grew older. Suppose my patience or lack of same sorta works against me...

Coming from a former Soviet country, it would be surprising if you didn't know how to play.;)

Never played in a live tournament. I play online in the blitz mode. Estimated fide elo 1700 (though chess sites tend to overestimate it a lot)

That's my problem too. When I avoid making huge mistakes (such as leaving my queen exposed to an obvious attack :o ) I'm actually a very decent player.
