KIRYIENKA Vasil 15 0 team

BODNAR Maciej 5 0 team
LUTSENKO Alexey 3 0 team

Guardini looked good coming into the Giro, but ended up being a non factor in the sprints, my other wildcards didn't perform for various reasons (Tschopp, Chaves, Felline and Meintjes) and Froome just didn't have the form to compete with Contador.

Congrats to Hugo and thanks for running the game, A c.

Emerging riders game, Career in Decline game, launch for those next year, vague plans for a Women's CQ game...

As far as I have found, the best possible team would have been:
CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto
ARU Fabio
SANCHEZ GONZALEZ Samuel
NAVARRO GARCIA Daniel
STUYVEN Jasper
HERNANDEZ BLAZQUEZ Jesus
NIEMIEC Przemyslaw
ANACONA GOMEZ Winner Andrew
DE MARCHI Alessandro
Cost 3460, score 2389. Another combination might beat it.

Interesting that this team omits Froome: the highest non-Froome team was Trudgin (20th)
Highest placed who suffered with Quintana's withdrawal: 18Valve (14th)
Highest with Quintana but not Froome: Panda Claws (42nd)

Combined Competition
Those who have entered all 4 of my games
Classics+Giro+Tour+Vuelta=Total
1 Hugo87 1563 + 2536 + 1114 + 2057 = 7270
2 Leadbelly 1547 + 2171 + 1449 + 1690 = 6857
3 NairoQ 1753 + 2472 + 1496 + 948 = 6669
4 Kazistuta 1606 + 1615 + 2237 + 1022 = 6480
5 GeraintTooFast 1201 + 1972 + 1344 + 1639 = 6156
6 Oliveira 2001 + 1798 + 456 + 1835 = 6090
7 Josedin 2197 + 1785 + 994 + 1011 = 5987
8 Dazed_and_Confused 1460 + 1145 + 1967 + 1349 = 5921
9 Afrank 1474 + 1512 + 1850 + 946 = 5782
10 Search 1272 + 1963 + 1441 + 1073 = 5749
11 asdfgh101 2030 + 1530 + 857 + 961 = 5378
12 JustSomeGuy 2060 + 1613 + 762 + 802 = 5237
13 Comodoro 765 + 1623 + 2263 + 549 = 5200
14 Armchair_Cyclist 1668 + 1740 + 582 + 1094 = 5084
15 Del1962 1461 + 1741 + 383 + 1467 = 5052
16 18Valve 1667 + 934 + 754 + 1415 = 4770
17 Mutschi 1451 + 1663 + 383 + 1168 = 4665
18 MC_Mountain 1387 + 1204 + 853 + 798 = 4242
19 LightBing 1257 + 1046 + 356 + 1221 = 3880
20 Trudgin 318 + 251 + 880 + 1236 = 2685

If you'd like to examine the data further, the final table is here at Dropbox

This team costing 3491 would have scored 2509 (I think)

CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto
FROOME Chris
ARU Fabio
DE MARCHI Alessandro
NAVARRO GARCIA Daniel
LE MEVEL Christophe
MEDEREL Maxime
MANGEL Laurent

He's right, and Domagalski or Bewley could have been substituted for Mangel (same score, slightly higher spend but within budget)

Is there a routine in Excel for checking this, or did Del just do more trial and error than I did?

Cant check this. my hard disk crashed, and after battling with my laptop for 3 days, i m too lazy to write the code again. 2509 for a 3500 spend implies just 60%. Just shows how bad this vuelta was for the cheaper(in terms of CQ points) riders.

Thank you AC for running this game. i hope i can do Classics game next year.

Might be because the rider who scored the second largest number of points was prohibetively expensive though

absolutely. i think i m hooked to a Horner like win. 400-odd point rider earning more than double the points.
