Pellizotti is pretty successful. Bummer.

This is not good news:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/airgas-safeways-season-delayed-by-vuelta-mexico-cancellation

I need Horner to get racing days, preferably in 2.2 races like this one would have been.

Still rather too early for applying the 20 day rule: still simply showing the unwanted points earned.

Riders this month
Doing better than their manager's want in February
GAVAZZI Francesco 168 points in February 1 team
JANSE VAN RENSBURG Jacques 154 1
TAARAM?E Rein 135 1
CHALAPUD GOMEZ Robinson Eduardo 100 1
BOLE Grega 95 1
PELLIZOTTI Franco 94 3
DUMOULIN Samuel 80 2

Already would be a good, in the black, pick if they had been in the other game:
JANSE VAN RENSBURG Jacques
MEGIAS LEAL Javier
MANCEBO PEREZ Francisco
CHALAPUD GOMEZ Robinson Eduardo
(red faces for Alykaptan, The Sceptic, Geraint Too Fast and yours truly)

Teams this month
Getting points here is what you don't want to do: those at the top of the table have riders with nothing to cheer about this month

1 Del1962 24
2 Lenissart 29
3 Shalgo 49
4 Joelsim 50
5 Skidmark 53
6 Leadbelly 55
7 Fauniera 84
8 JeroenK 86
9 Derrudi 96
10 DJSprtsch 152
11 ArmchairCyclist 153

15 Alykaptan 199
16 RoteLaterne 217
17 Flo 318
18 Akuryo 380
19 Josedin 413

Standings
Riders who have managed to keep well away from the podium so far this season will put a team at the top of this ranking:

4 Leadbelly 90
5 Del1962 115
6 Shalgo 137

Getting seriously worried about Pellizotti.
Afraid he's turning out to be my Peraud from last year.

While Gerrans' injury in his first race back is unfortunate on the personal level, it makes it less likely that he'll have the Ardennes form of last year (and the points as well), and he definitely won't be back to claim a second San Remo. Wiggins getting 11th in the P-N prologue is good game-wise too. I really didn't know what to expect in terms of the Qatar race with a TT and Paris-Nice with a big prologue, but it looks like he's just all in for Roubaix and the rest is just fun, which is good news for his owners in this game. So far my only guy who has shown anything is Drucker, who I can only expect to have far fewer opportunities with BMC this year anyway.

Bad news from T-A for those, like me, with Cummings. Good news for those with Wiggins that he dropped out before the final P-N TT.

Also the news that he's got special dispensation to ride the Tour de Yorkshire means that if he rides the 4 cobbled races he's supposed to and then the 3-day TdY, he'll be at 21 for the year :D

Wiggins turns out to be a must pick unfortunately. He apparently isn't interested in anything than Roubaix, and i don't see him podium there either. There is not even a time trial at the Tour of Britain, which otherwise would have provided easy points for him if he would have been interested.

Also i'm not happy that Drucker is still riding all the little races (like Nokere Koerse today) instead of the big ones as he should with BMC.

End of March

About 1/4 of selected riders have now reached the 20 day threshhold, and half of them have at least 15 racing days. Most of those who are on WT/PC teams are well on the way to 20, but the most significant rider short of days is Gerrans, the most popular pick of all, who has only one outing so far.

Unwanted points this month:
CANCELLARA Fabian 208 points 1 team
PERAUD Jean-Christophe 185 8
POELS Wout 168 1
POURSEYEDI GOLAKHOUR Mirsamad 146 1
CUMMINGS Stephen 125 5
GATTO Oscar 125 1
CHAVANEL Sylvain 113 1
DRUCKER Jempy 103 2
KREUZIGER Roman 102 1
BOLE Grega 97 1
PONZI Simone 92 1
MANCEBO PEREZ Francisco 77 1
REBELLIN Davide 71 4
LEUKEMANS Björn 55 2
JANSE VAN RENSBURG Jacques 51 1
bozic borut 50 1
CIOLEK Gerald 49 1
HAYMAN Mathew 48 1
GERDEMANN Linus 47 1
PELLIZOTTI Franco 45 3

Best scoring riders in the game:
PERAUD Jean-Christophe 1014 8
CHAVANEL Sylvain 889 1
CANCELLARA Fabian 761 1
VAN ASBROECK Tom 718 1
FINETTO Mauro 614 2
WIGGINS Bradley 603 9
VAN GENECHTEN Jonas 506 1
REBELLIN Davide 503 4
HESJEDAL Ryder 492 2
DRUCKER Jempy 443 2
LEUKEMANS Björn 425 2
VANENDERT Jelle 419 1

TEN DAM Laurens 326 1
KIRYIENKA Vasil 324 1
KREUZIGER Roman 322 1
BOLE Grega 305 1
LAGUTIN Sergey 304 1

(To clarify: Peraud has 18 race days, had a 2014 score of 1312 and a 2015 score of 185. 1312-185=1127, and 18/20 of 1127 is 1014.3, or 1014 to nearest whole number.)

Standings
The first table with real scores, and top three scorers for each team)

April update (which includes up to 3rd May)

The points you didn't want your riders to get
The two teams that chose Zakarin will have watched Romandie with a sense of dread.
Rider/CQ points in the month/teams
ZAKARIN Ilnur 375 2 (Geraint Too Fast and JeroenK)
ANTON HERNANDEZ Igor 207 1 (Josedin)
SCARPONI Michele 190 3 (Akuryo, Flo, Joelsim)
ELMIGER Martin 179 2 (Flo, Josedin)
KREUZIGER Roman 179 1 (Josedin)
DEVOLDER Stijn 175 2 (Armchair and Flo)
WIGGINS Bradley 158 9
DUMOULIN Samuel 125 2 (Derrudi, Josedin)
REBELLIN Davide 110 4 (Armchair, JeroenK, Rote Laterne and Shalgo)
VOECKLER Thomas 91 4 (Akuryo, Derrudi, Joelsim and Josedin)

Best points earners for the team by increasing their days ridden nearer to 20, but without gaining many CQ points in the process.

GERRANS Simon 1032 11 (too many to list: they will be easily identified in the monthly team scores)
VAN ASBROECK Tom 292 1(Fauniera)
BUTS Vitaliy 221 1 (Alykaptan)
POLIVODA Oleksandr 153 1
KONONENKO Mykhaylo 145 1
PONZI Simone 145 1
GRADEK Kamil 128 3
POURSEYEDI GOLAKHOUR Mirsamad 118 1
REBELLIN Davide 105 4 (yep: he was on the list for earning quite a few points, but added to his race days)
SHPILEVSKY Boris 105 1

Best scoring riders over the game so far: of these, only Gerrans has potential to increase his score in this game, as all the others have reached 20 race days and so can only lose points.

GERRANS Simon 1119 11
PERAUD Jean-Christophe 1079 8
VAN ASBROECK Tom 1010 1
CHAVANEL Sylvain 968 1
CANCELLARA Fabian 761 1
FINETTO Mauro 672 2
WIGGINS Bradley 646 9
REBELLIN Davide 608 4
VAN GENECHTEN Jonas 506 1
VANENDERT Jelle 499 1
HESJEDAL Ryder 480 2
DRUCKER Jempy 450 2
LEUKEMANS Björn 423 2

Game score changes this month
1 DJSprtsch 1443
2 Fauniera 1405
3 RoteLaterne 1382
4 Shalgo 1365
5 Lenissart 1359
6 Skidmark 1307
7 TheSceptic 1237
8 AlPacino 1104
9 Del1962 1084
10 GeraintTooFast 1076
11 Derrudi 949
12 Alykaptan 890
13 Leadbelly 614
14 JeroenK 258
15 ArmchairCyclist 121
16 Joelsim -104
17 Akuryo -105
18 Flo -404
19 Josedin -574

The top non-Gerrans team (Alykaptan) didn't lose too many points to the poorest performing team that did include him, but Gerrans defines the top half-and-a-bit of the monthly scores. Most of DJSprtsch's team returned positive scores this month, but that can't continue for much longer, as more riders reach or draw near to 20 race days.

New standings
Not much correlation between this month's table and last month's: the new leader was in the lower half at the end of March, at which time two of what are now the bottom three were in the top 5.

1 Fauniera 3730
2 Joelsim 3606
3 Lenissart 3598
4 Leadbelly 3582
5 AlPacino 3572
6 Del1962 3503
7 DJSprtsch 3494
8 Alykaptan 3420
9 JeroenK 3403
10 TheSceptic 3400
11 ArmchairCyclist 3393
12 RoteLaterne 3392
13 Akuryo 3378
14 Shalgo 3356
15 Derrudi 3345
16 Skidmark 3232
17 Flo 3130
18 Josedin 2812
19 GeraintTooFast 2755

The two popular 1000 pt riders, Gerrans and Peraud, co-incide on 4 teams: The Sceptic, Del1962, AlPacino and Fauniera. What makes the last of the these our leader is his unique pick of the third 1000 pt rider, Tom Van Asbroeck.

Horner, Gerrans, Petacchi and most likely Pellizotti scoring. This is not my kind of game. ;)

May update

Pesky riders, going around being successful and getting to the detriment of their teams
HESJEDAL Ryder 339 2 teams (Akuryo and Flo)
KONOVALOVAS Ignatas 178 1 team (Al Pacino)
TIRALONGO Paolo 164 3 teams (Flo, Geraint and Skidmark)
VISCONTI Giovanni 161 1 team (Akuryo)
POURSEYEDI GOLAKHOUR Mirsamad 159 1 team (Alykaptan)
LOPEZ GARCIA David 120 1 team (Josedin)
NAPOLITANO Danilo 100 1 team (JeroenK)
CHAVANEL Sylvain 98 1 team
ZAKARIN Ilnur 92 2 teams
KIRYIENKA Vasil 85 1 team
PELLIZOTTI Franco 84 3 teams
HORNER Chris 81 2 teams
ELMIGER Martin 79 2 teams
REBELLIN Davide 72 4 teams
BUSATO Matteo 70 1 team
ZUBELDIA AGIRRE Haimar 68 3 teams
MANCEBO PEREZ Francisco 63 1 team
CARDOSO Andre Fernando Santos Martins 62 1 team
POLIVODA Oleksandr 61 1 team
GERRANS Simon 60 11 teams

Gaining points Having had fewer than 20 race days at the beginning of the month, they clocked up more days without gaining too many points:

GERRANS Simon 543 11 teams
SHPILEVSKY Boris 181 1 team
MIZBANI IRANAGH Ghader 98 3 teams
DEGAND Thomas 79 1 team
TUFT Svein 79 3 teams
BUTS Vitaliy 77 1 team
BORGERSEN Reidar Bohlin 68 3 teams
KONONENKO Mykhaylo 62 1 team
ROGINA Radoslav 53 2 teams
MARCOTTE Eric 53 2 teams

There are now only 4 selected riders who have the potential to make a positive contribution of more than 100 to their team: Phinney, Fedi, Witmitz and Degand.

Monthly changes for the teams
Gerrans keeps most of the field in profit, but he has now reached 20 days so can only be a liability from here on in for the top 11 teams. Four teams would have made a profit without him: Lenissart because he also has Mizbani and Tuft, Alykaptan and Leadbelly who actually did return a Gerransless profit due to shpilevski and a Mizbani-Borgersen combination respectively, and The Sceptic, who had no other major gainer of points, but whose team took almost no CQ points this month.
1 Lenissart 714
2 TheSceptic 630
3 DJSprtsch 529
4 Del1962 526
5 Skidmark 506
6 Fauniera 492
7 Shalgo 490
8 Derrudi 486
9 RoteLaterne 343
10 AlPacino 316
11 GeraintTooFast 286
12 Alykaptan 160
13 Leadbelly 155
14 Joelsim -157
15 ArmchairCyclist -188
16 JeroenK -218
17 Josedin -386
18 Akuryo -578
19 Flo -699

Best and worst riders selected by the slightly perverse standards of this game
GERRANS Simon 1662 11 teams
PERAUD Jean-Christophe 1059 8 teams
VAN ASBROECK Tom 997 1 team
CHAVANEL Sylvain 870 1 team
CANCELLARA Fabian 761 1 team
FINETTO Mauro 657 2 teams
WIGGINS Bradley 646 9 teams
REBELLIN Davide 536 4 teams
VANENDERT Jelle 499 1 team
VAN GENECHTEN Jonas 493 1 team
DRUCKER Jempy 435 2 teams
LEUKEMANS Björn 418 2 teams
GRADEK Kamil 365 3 teams
LAGUTIN Sergey 359 1 team
KOREN Kristjan 340 3 teams
SHPILEVSKY Boris 339 1 team
PONZI Simone 363 1 team
TEN DAM Laurens 323 1 team
...
DEVOLDER Stijn -69 2 teams
ELMIGER Martin -74 2 teams
MEGIAS LEAL Javier -84 1 team
JANSE VAN RENSBURG Jacques -85 1 team
VICIOSO ARCOS Angel -86 1 team
ANTON HERNANDEZ Igor -96 1 team
TIRALONGO Paolo -110 3 teams
KONOVALOVAS Ignatas -131 1 team
MANCEBO PEREZ Francisco -233 1 team

Standings
1 Lenissart 4312
2 Fauniera 4222
3 TheSceptic 4030
4 Del1962 4029
5 DJSprtsch 4023
6 AlPacino 3888
7 Shalgo 3846
8 Derrudi 3831
9 Skidmark 3738
10 Leadbelly 3737
11 RoteLaterne 3735
12 Alykaptan 3580
13 Joelsim 3449
14 ArmchairCyclist 3205
15 JeroenK 3185
16 GeraintTooFast 3041
17 Akuryo 2800
18 Flo 2431
19 Josedin 2426

Lenissart rises two places to replace Fauniera at the top: former 2nd place Joelsim plummets to 13th, overhauled by all the Gerransers. The Sceptic's month with almost no CQ points is rewarded by a 7 place rise to the podium.

Gadret is not going to the Tour it seems. Hope it doesn't mean he will scoop up points in Austria or Poland.
Besides that my hope is that Peraud surprises again...
