Great day for the Kittel teams, but he will not stay in 2nd on GC for long, so he will get a big negative score sometime soon. But he might make up for a lot of it with stage points.

Kittel and Kung together put GPBlanco over the 1000 mark (for now)

I was pleased to see that the results sheet at letour.com is a csv table: that'll save a lot of time and correction of CN's vagaries and inconsistencies.

Most working days, I'll try to avoid hearing the results and watch the ITV4 highlights at 7pm, and do the update after that, so don't expect it much before 9pm (UK time) most days.

I'll keep a working copy of the spreadsheet at Dropbox, so you can investigate further here every day.

Classics men are expensive, but don't get many chances in a GT, so are rare picks. No point scorer is in more than one team, the only team to pick a podium man was last this morning in the overall, so some recompense there.

Sorry, BT have left me without internet for up to 48 hours. Not feasible to run the game from the phone. Will resume service as soon as possible.

EDIT: They got the engineer out within 2 hours rather than 24-48 as estimated: well done BT

I know it is still early, but I am feeling pretty good about my Porte/Aru/Kittel team at the moment. I was disappointed to find out at the beginning of the game that I was not the only person to pick all three of them. It would be funny if the final result ends up coming down to something like the relative performance of Brajkovic vs. Kiserlovski.

Stage 6 Enjoy Troyes

Green points

Most of those who went for a big name sprinter seem to have got the right one

KITTEL Marcel 80 16 teams
DEMARE Arnaud 50 1 team
GREIPEL André 35 1 team
KRISTOFF Alexander 25 0 team
FROOME Chris 20 2 teams

GROENEWEGEN Dylan 10 2 teams
MATTHEWS Michael 5 0 team
MCLAY Daniel 3 5 teams
SELIG Rüdiger 2 0 team
DEGENKOLB John 1 0 team

With Meintjes as his main GC pick, and a team that includes Kittel, Groenewegen, McLay, Boudat and Swift, Kazistuta seems to be targetting this classification rather than the main, Yellow points, game.

1 Kazistuta 93 (Kittel, Groenewegen and McLay)
2 GeraintTooFast 90 (Kittel + Groenewegen)
3= Bikeracer33, Mellow_Velo 83 (Kittel + McLay)

Great to see I've peaked for this Tour, all downhill from here. Going for strength in numbers GC-wise is so far looking as a better bet for the Tour than the Giro, granted we've only seen a 17-minute interval effort so far..

Yellow points
More interest to watch, at least for first 3/4 of the stage, than it's effect on the game. Calmejane's rise to top of the KoM classification, and the rises and fall of others, is the main change other than stage points.

The top three this morning all suffer through Porte's misfortune, and despite having Uran, Laarsland cannot capitalise to move up from 4th. The three teams immediately below him this morning are all now above him; Amis Velo, Mellow Velo, Leadbelly and Vladimir all move into the top ten, but none of them can match DJW's 18 place jump.

At least there is potential for change tomorrow, but the riders with a chance of giving their managers a boost also have the danger of causing them a major slump.

(Big news: possibility of the top non Kitteller overtaking the lowest Kitteller in this ranking tomorrow!)

Yellow points

Once the "heads of state" are at the top of GC rankings, subsequent changes are as much the result of failings and falls rather than active progress. So today there are 2 main falls: Froome's hands a huge dividend to Aru (and potentially several days of 20 point bonuses); Fuglsangs gives smaller numbers of points to many riders

ARU Fabio 208 20 teams
BARDET Romain 80 5 teams
URAN URAN Rigoberto 50 3 teams

Standings:

Squire's lead more than doubles (from 3 points to 7) because although Fauniera's Kiserlovski moved up 2 places to 46th, Brajkovic went up from 45th to 39th. The gap between the two riders who are probably unaware that the game rests on their relative performances has gone out to 5:38 today.

Amis Velo is the highest placed team to see any improvement in position, up 2 places to 6th, Shalgo is into the top ten, and Ratta Kuningas has the biggest (7 place) improvement.
