At least we are all off the mark (and the spreadsheet works)

There will always be those who we all managed to miss. You might have riders in your team who by the end of three years have still scored less than the likes of:
PHOUNSAVATH DESTRIBOIS Alex Ariya 113 from Tour of Indonesia
HARPER Chris 101 from Aussie nationals and Herald Sun
KIPKEMBOI Salim 101 from Sharjah and Tropicale Amissa Bongo
CHAWCHIANGKUANG Peerapol 100 also Tour of Indonesia

And the spreadsheet is here, and its updates will be here each month though I might not always publish the link.

Thanks for the update! This game is so great to follow over the longer term.

I almost picked Chris Harper. I'd heard good things and then imagined a trajectory from a year of domestic and Asian racing to a PCT team or something the next two years for a comfy gain. At the last minute I decided to go with another Aussie Chris (Hamilton, that is) because he'd had a couple of seasons under his belt and was locked in with a team, so more of a sure bet. Steadiness has served me well in this game, but those are probably the kind of picks I'll need to make to get 1st instead of top 10 - not Harper in specific, but the road less travelled.

Good luck everyone!

Well done, and he did beat a few more frequently picked riders in the game, but a 1.2 race is only worth 15 points.

Absolutely, but a very good omen for the duration of this game. Also on the highway to non-eligiblity for the 19-21-edition.

Fingers crossed...

It will be a big handicap for me not too have him for sure, wish I had concluded differently :)

At least I can take a little comfort from my unique pick Ballerinis good result today. He will be a very good pick for me I think.

Standings

Blues in the Bottle shows early consistency in the game, 2nd in each of the 2 summaries so far and so leading the way. Scrool07 had also done pretty well in January, before this monthly win, and is second overall at this early stage. Hugo Koblet was the highest (9 place) riser, and Laarsland the only other to enter the top ten.

Thanks for the update! It is my first time participating in one of these emerging riders games, and there is definitely a different rhythm to it than to one of the shorter (season-long, GT, or classics) games. It will be fun to watch how all of these riders develop over the next three years.

Year 1, month 3 5th March to 1st April

Three big scorers this month, but all three among our most popular picks.

HODEG CHAGUI Alvaro Jose 190 (won Handzame and a stage in Catalunya) 22 teams
JAKOBSEN Fabio 155 (Handzame win) 27 teams
PHILIPSEN Jasper 132 (3rd in dreidaagse, won the triptique: I'm guessing his lucky number is 3) 21 teams
DAVIDS Brendon 62 for Lukas CPH
WELTEN Bram 59 pts 10 teams

Standings

The Asian moves up from 6th to take the lead, and is sweating under two yellow jerseys, as he also leads the 2017-19 version. Kryvo was immediately ahead of him, now immediately behind in second, having dislodged Scrool, who hangs onto his podium place ahead of Skidmark, who makes an impressive jump from 12th. Also bursting into the top ten are Flo, on the back of a 7 place rise, and Ludwigzgz, whose 10 place rise is matched only by monthly winner Karaev.

No points for my unique pick Nans Peters at the Tour de Suisse today, but at least he looked strong before being caught near the finish--hopefully a sign of things to come. (He also put in a good ride at the Tour de 'Ain last month.)

Last Monday passed me by without my noticing it was the first Monday (normal update schedule), and this week looks rather busy for me. Working on these three games during the build up to, and in the duration of, the TdF game is likely to be impossible if I am to maintain a marriage. So with your forbearance (or, frankly, without it), I'll do an early-May to mid-June 'month' next week, and another 6 week 'month' ending on the first Monday of August. Hopefully we will be back on schedule thereafter (though I won't promise that any update due mid Vuelta won't also be postponed).

This applies equally to the 2016-18 and 2017-19 editions. If you feel I have seriously undermined your enjoyment of the games, I will reimburse 25% of your entry fee if you send me the receipt.

Enjoy the additional tension waiting to see how you have done.
