Have to link this. Mr. INRNG lists 10 roads to ride, with Fauniera on top of the list. Good man.

I instantly fell in love with that climb when I saw it during 2008 Giro. Even if Sella was leading.

Passo Del Mortirolo
Colle Delle Finestre
Colle Della Fauniera
Colle Dell' Agnello
Passo Fedaia
Monte Zoncolan
Passo Dello Stelvio
Tre Cime Di Lavaredo
Plan De Corones
Passo Di Gavia

This would probably be my list out of the climbs listed. All great climbs. I absolutely love Mortirolo, ppl should know that by now.. same thing with Finestre, always great racing. Never seen Fauniera, but if I had it would probably rank above Finestre. Agnello is a monster as well. Fedaia cause LS and the views, Zonc is extremely hard. Stelvio from west (?) is awesome, Lavaredo after Giau and stuff like in 2007 is stuff for the legends (altho I like Giau better), I don't really have a relationship with Corones and I aint no fan of Gavia, really. Blockhaus would also rank higher than the last 3 climbs on this list.

The climb at 5:24, is that Stelvio?

I think not, it's the Giro 2005 stage 14, while Stelvio was stage 15. Unless eurosport doesn't count the prologue, it must not be the Stelvio (but it's similar...)
wait, there's no Basso in there... So it could actually be the Stelvio. Damn eurosport...

Looks like the Stelvio from Prad.

NOT Monte Zoncolan.

Stelvio is more mythical IMO.

Finestre is clearly my favorite giro climb, but tbh I've simply not seen many of these climbs or at least never seen them when they were at a crucial point of the stage. I would surely rank gavia quite high if I had seen the blizzard battle of 1988, while I had definitely rated the Agnello (now one of my favorite climbs) lower before the giro 2016.

Anyway, I always find it a bit sad that all legendary giro climbs are in the alps. The giro should really visit climbs like Blockhaus more often.

Yeah, the reason I rate Agnello this high is also due to 2016. That was simply epic, the conditions, the snow walls.. that said its still a monster, those last 10 km in that altitude is savage and something you see VERY rarely in professional cycling.

I suppose I would rate Gavia a bit higher (still the lowest on this list regardless though) If I had seen it in play from the hardside on a crucial point of a race, but I havent and it really doesn't come across as such a great cllimb as the others to me. And agree on Blockhaus, thats just a climb they should use a bit more, its basically the Ventoux of Italy. One of the best MTFs in newer time when Movistar obliterated the field and Quintana won, those time differences were BIG.

Crostis would probably be much, much more prominent had it not been cancelled in that Giro. Its an absurd climb. Now its basically an afterthought and its a shame..

the descent is so brutal as well. unfortunately the death of WW was the main reason for this climb never being used in the giro. such a shame

2016 was nothing compared to 2007.

As for the favourite climbs, i'm also a fan of Agnello and Manghen. From the ones used by Giro i would also add Pampeago/Reiterjoch, Mont-Cenis (Moncenisio optional), Grappa, Etna-Sapienza east, Blockhaus, Stelvio+Mortirolo+Gavia combo, San Marco... basically anything, that has >20km @ >7%.

It's a close call, but Mortirolo just ahead of Finestre. Both due to the climb itself, and because these two are linked with obvious stage finish locations which makes long range attacks and aggressive riding highly probable.

Not that big of fan of Zoncolan. It's almost too tough.

Gavia, Stelvio and Fedaia are also great climbs if they are used in a good way. And I would very much like to see a stage using Fauniera. It haven't been used since I started following cycling.

I cant decide if I rather wanna see Fauniera (with Sampeyre), Crostis or something ridicolous like Timmelsjoch + Rettenbachferner (maybe even with Pennes and Giovo lol). I really don't know... theres just something mythical about Fauniera, especially on this forum, so I guess that takes the cake, but I think Crostis is more brutal actually.

I think Crostis would most likely feature in a stage with Zoncolan where it wouldn't have a huge impact. Fauniera is probably more likely to be a crucial climb which is why I also rather want to see Fauniera than Crostis.

I also really want to see the Timmelsjoch-Rettenbachferner combo but I think that's more me being Austrian than rational thinking. (After all we could already see the Rettenbachferner in the Tour de Suisse in the last 3 years)

Yeah I agree, but even with Zoncolan as the MTF, Crostis will do huge damage. Theres literally not respite between the climbs and when you have 14 km at 10%, some on dirt (right?), its bound to go down. I definitely think its legit to suggest Crostis is harder than Zoncolan and Mortirolo.
