Since this would get lost between the chaos that is the stage thread: big props to this guy. He now has a stage on Stelvio and Ventoux. For not being a true climber, that's impressive!

Brilliant win, saves the Tour for Lotto. Thanks, didn't expect this.
A bit sad that nobody cares about his win right now.

I am always amazed at how much he better he can be when he really sets his mind on something.

And a podium at the Giro. Many climbers who focus their career on finishing in the top ten in a GT have never achieved that, like Gesink, VDB2, Mollema (this might be his year though), Zubeldia, Tejay van Garderen, Kruijswijk, etc.

Shame that an amazing win for Thomas de Gendt is so overshadowed. Great win, was really rooting for him in that final sprint. Seems well on his way to the combativity award + KoM, as well as having a Tour stage in the bags. Combativity depends on the amount of punches Froome plans to give though.

First on in the Dauphiné.

Stage wins:
Paris-Nice 2x
Catalunya 2x
Suisse
Dauphiné
Giro (Stelvio)
Tour (Mont Ventoux-Chalet Renard)

Plus many KoM jerseys and ofcourse a final podium in il Giro.

Great rider

Very underrated IMO. Would like to see him go for another GC at Giro or Vuelta.

If he doesn't want to, why should he? He's pretty brilliant at what he does. :D

+ a couple hundred kilometers working at the front of the peloton.

--> that's half the Tour

And he also participated in every Sprint + KoM in those breaks

3rd year in a row he finishes top 10 in the points competition and 2nd year in a row podiums the KoM competition. #randomfacts

He prefers to ride off on his own and meditate.

“It is my ultimate goal to win a Vuelta stage, as I already won a stage in Giro and Tour. That is something I really want to achieve in my career. I read that at the moment 99 riders were able to win at least one stage in all three Grand Tours. It would be nice to be the hundredth rider in history"

mmmm... which stage would go nicely with Stelvio & Ventoux ?

De Gendt has some tough competition for that honour; Trentin & Zakarin. (Am I missing anyone?)
