Talansky did very well today. Stayed cool and collected.
Let see how he defends the jersey on De Lure.

Talansky is in the pole position now. But it's all about Lieuwe Westra!

Yes he did :) Totally isolated for the last 30k and still there at the end no matter what they did :) Go Bulldog!!!

Nibali becomes only the 6th winner of all 3 GTS (2014)!
Nibali joins Gimondi, Merckx and Hinault as only the 4th man to win all 3 GTS and 2 different Monuments (2018). A throwback rider in this age of specialization. Bravo!

Yes, he's been looking very good. I think he'll manage to hang with the favorites tomorrow. Still a lot of people who are close on GC though, so he and Garmin will have to be very attentive.

I strongly cheer for Talansky, but a strong ride by Gesink would be nice

Talansky has been impressive with little team support.

Learned good lesson today. Strength needs to be managed correctly.

Agreed. He's young; hopefully he learns the right lessons from this.

He rode very well today, no team in sight :( Then he got overconfident and tried to shed them all. He is young, hopefully he learned today; to manage himself and not underestimate his opponents.

Kid with a bright future :)

Great ride by Talansky. Such losses are a part of learning process. If one doesn't attack with today's result he will never learn how to attack properly.

Won some hearts today, funny how that works.

Would have been nice if Hesjedal was there to help him...

Sure I like him more now than after his stage win.

And he didn't stand a chance anyway against Porte. Nothing to regret.

Where is the Garmin Team?

08 Mar 2013 16:16

What an inspired ride today... I was wondering his tactics and thinking he should have held back but then I looked in the stage results and didn't see a single Garmin Sharp rider besides him... Is that possible that they all abandoned or do my eyes just suck? If he knew he had no team than his tactic is really admirable! Very impressive. If he had had one rider in the finale to chase Porte he would still have the jersey and a great shot at the overall.

Agreed. Not the smartest ride, but I enjoyed the effort. He's got a lot of confidence, that kid.

Garmin's team isn't the strongest at P-N and yesterday they worked hard to defend the jersey. Add the work they needed to do on the first part of the stage today and the support riders are gone before the last climb.

Talansky did very well for a long period on his own today, but was inspired by Scarponi to try and make the race in the end. That was a mistake, but he will learn.
