Gianluca Brambilla thread

14 May 2016 14:08

Gianluca Brambilla, a rider who's never afraid to attack (ask Ivan Rovny). A loyal domestique who gets his chance to shine every now and then. Will today be one of those days? Will he manage to grab the maglia rosa?

Brambilla can do a great TT especially if hilly: http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/Giro_Italia_2014_Stage_12_ITT_Barolo

I'm not sure he can recover from today's effort though.

Do you have other examples of good, long ITTs by Brambilla? If not, it's just one data point.

True, but it could also be the only one he rode full gas.

Against (virtually) all odds, Brambilla stays pretty in pink!

He took many risks while most other top riders didn't. A superb performance nonetheless, happy for him.

Hello Everybody,

What are Brambilla's chances to be high in GC? He always was decent climber but this year he seems to be in much better form than previously. I think top 10 is achievable, but can he be top 5 or even podium?

It would be a major surprise if he did better than top 10.

Agreed, altho he really was climbing brilliantly the other day. At this point, I think its more plausible that he finishes in top-10 than he doesn't.

He did it once again. Should clearly be the revelation of the season after taking a stage at the Giro and the Vuelta (and numerous other good placings during the year). What a season he's having!

He'll target the Giro GC next year.

Everyone wants to be a Grand Tour rider nowadays. Brambilla should target classics, stages and small stage races. Same with Formolo.

Trek must be the least ambitious team ever. They sign a rider just to get a 10th place in a gt. Just ridiculous

My guess is Brambilla is riding for GC because Trek Segafreddo have a dearth of options.
