Winner Anacona thread

15 Jun 2016 13:00

Winner Anacona always gets that one question from interviewers: "why did your parents name you 'Winner'?". The Colombian has proven his worth with some solid performances, including a stage in the 2014 Vuelta a España while riding for Lampre, but perhaps most notably as a loyal domestique to Alejandro Valverde and Nairo Quintana in Movistar colours.

Big fan, but I prefer to discuss him in the Movistar-thread.

"...He was named after cyclists Peter Winnen and Andrew Hampsten, but due to a mistake, his first name became Winner instead of Winnen..."

Indeed, especially when there's no particular reason.
