Unexpected one now, Sérgio Samitier to Euskadi-Murias. He had been seen as nailed on to Movistar. Don't know if they've therefore got something else up their sleeve that precludes them from promoting him - the last couple of years they've promoted two a season from Lizarte, and with Castrillo he's been the obvious standout prospect. With Sessler already accounted for, it suggests that unless they decide to bolster the rouleur corps with Zhygunou they're going with only one neo-pro this year and perhaps have another established name mooted since they have 8 names leaving and just 5 coming in. The rumour mill has Alarcón, so de la Parte would be comprehensively one-upped in the lolworthiness stakes if that were to come to pass. Though of course they may well bring Samitier back in to the fold a few years down the line if he delivers for Murias.

The Basque team have also bolstered their first ProConti squadron with two signings from Caja Rural, Edu Prades and Héctor Sáez. Prades has been fairly consistent over rolling to hilly terrain along similar lines to other Caja Rural alumni such as Omar Fraile and Pello Bilbao, but at 30 is probably squeezed out of the development roles at Caja Rural as his results are not high profile enough to make him a must-keep, while Sáez is a 23-year-old who has been reasonable as a baroudeur of late and has some potential.

Unzue had to choose between Samitier and renewing Quintana if I read this correctly: http://www.ciclismointernacional.com/noticias-breves-del-peloton-50/ (scroll a little down). Samitier hoping to make the step to WT in 1-2 years.

Reading between the lines it sounds a bit like that but not stated directly. Sergio sounds a bit disappointed which is understandable. He thought that he was going to Movistar and as a result didn't look at other options. Plan is to see how things go and join Movistar in a year or two. He says that he isn't angry with Eusebio but their ideas differ. Doesn't sound like a particularly good base for wanting to join the team later on to me but who knows. Seems a shame that he hasn't joined the team now although he will of course get some good experience at pro conti level first.

Matthias De witte (Cibel) to Verandas-Willlems-Crelan.
The Day Team Sky disappears from cycling I'll truly enjoy watching a mountainous Grand Tour stage again -- former Milan-San Remo winner I interviewed.

Anyone know any information about why Teklehaimanot has not been offered a new contract by Dimension Data?
Seems strange to be cut loose at the end of the season when few places are left in WT teams.

Coledan signs with wilier Triestina.
http://www.cicloweb.it/2017/10/24/ciclomercato-marco-coledan-wilier-triestina-selle-italia/
A good rider for the harder sprint stages and a good addition to Mareczko's potential sprint train, if he resigns with them.
Many guys on DD still don't have a contract, all the Eritreans and Morton would be interesting for some teams.
Morton would be a good leader for the US stage races for Trek, let him race those and some spanish races, maybe the Vuelta, the guy's great at climbing in the heat, but hates bad weather, a US PCT team would also be a good fit for him.
Kudus, Berhane, Debesay and Teklehaimanot would be great singings for many teams, atm Bahrain only have 21 riders signed for 2018 and Copeland actually seems to care about African cycling, I could see them picking up 2 or 3 of them.

super news, Nathan Earle sig with Israel Cycling Academy. nice to see him back after the Sky and Drapac years where he had dire fortunes
I hope his fellow Aussie countryman Zak Dempster continues there too

Good to hear. I'm not sure he's a WT level rider but definitely Pro Conti. Israel Cycling Academy will have a nice squad next year.

I am confident that Earle is WT standard and comfortably so.
