Cyclist of the year: Froome
Sprinter: Kittel
Classics rider: GVA (both kwiat and Gilbert could have gotten that title in another year)
TT'er: Dumoulin
Climber: Landa (we didn't really see his level in the giro since he mostly rode in breaks, but that he was still one of the absolutely best climbers in his 2nd gt in a row although he didn't even plan to go for the gc there as well, is mind boggling. Maybe Porte could have gotten the title but it seemed unfair to give it to a rider whose strongest competition was in the Dauphine where he had problems dropping Fuglsang)
Improved: I can't decide. Dumoulin, Kwiat, Moscon, Roglic, Woods,...
Versatile: Moscon
breakthrough: Teuns
U23: Bernal
Team: Sunweb (Sky was stronger but Sky's strength was expected while Sunweb's incredible results came as a surprise)

Race of the year: Strade Bianche
Performance of the year: I think Nibali last Saturday in Lombardia was pretty darn good
Craziest moment of the year: There is just nothing anywhere close to poopgate in the giro
best race design:No idea. Il Lombardia just to add fuel to the fire
I could not believe my eyes when nobody attacked when Froome was behind the peloton in the tdf stage 15

What about the category "most disappointing rider of the year"? My choice would be Quintana

Cyclist of the year: Greg Van Avermaet for the third year in a row and for the third year in a row I'm the only one naming him, though this time I have every ranking on my side but CNF = GT as we all know.
Sprinter of the year: Arnaud Démare
Classics rider of the year: Greg Van Avermaet obviously
Time-trialist of the year: Tom Dumoulin
Climber of the year: I don't know
Most improved rider of the year: Dylan Teuns
Most versatile rider of the year: Mathieu Van der Poel [cyclocross (sand, hills, flat), road (hills, dirt roads, sprint), MTB (cross-country, marathon)]
U23 rider of the year: Mathieu Van der Poel
Breakthrough rider of the year: Dylan Teuns
Team of the year: Beobank Corendon

Best race of the year: Paris-Roubaix (every year it is, anyway)
Best race performance of the year: Greg Van Avermaet winning Paris-Roubaix
Craziest moment of the year: Mathieu Van der Poel getting back from Moun Ventoux in Lille at 11pm on the eve of the Elfstedenronde and present at the start of the race at 9am before getting outsprinted by Wout Van Aert in the sprint.
Best race design of the year (no not in the thread ;)): must necessarily be something new? Paris-Roubaix like every year of course.

Translation:
I'm a GVA fanboy, who wants to show his intellectual superiority by telling everyone how mainstream and boring grand tours are.

I have no idea about all the cyclocross stuff, although it sounds a lot like you just want to write something different, but anyway, this is a road racing forum, so I don't think cyclocross should be included in this thread.

How can Froome be cyclist of the year with such a boring, calculated riding style?

Is cyclist of the year just a synonym for best season? I think not.

Contador, Gilbert, Nibali, Dumoulin, Sagan, Van Avermaet, Kwiatkowski (who btw was Stronger than Froome in the Tour), etc. all colored this season much more than Froome did.

My brain just keeps trying to squeeze in a "2" between the "G" and the "R". Not, AG2R is not the best race design of the year, coz that doesn't make sense.
(In my, slight, defense I actually thought it was under Team of the Year, which would make slightly more sense...)
