Martinez's great performance was overshadowed by Bernal, but he was great too.

Rigo said that there was bad communication and he played the wrong strategy when he saw that breakaway was reached on the last kilometer and Egan was ahead. Dayer also stated that he lost complete communication with his team. So basically it was a no radio race on the last kilometers. LOL. :D

Wow.

That young man has a brilliant future without a doubt. I only hope and pray SKY won't be an obstacle in his meteoric career

Agreed. I genuinely don't think Sky have invested in a talent like this just to play domestique to 'the Brits'

I think with the public split from British Cycling, having a British leader is not so important in the long term for the team now.

IF Team Sky has a long term future, Egan Bernal is it

Bernal won this.

Broadcasters were so confused at the finish thanks to the cameramen!

I was thinking why is Dayer celebrating?
Then I thought Sebastian was Sergio, LOL.
Then I thought Daniel was Rigo. Haha.
Finally everything was cleared up!

I want to believe that Bernal is in a much better fitness than Quintana and Rigo. Otherwise this is really scary!

Hint; Sergio is the one with the championship stribes. :p

Didn't the UCI put in a rule about no radio communications or is it just directors can't talk to the riders in the last 3km or something like that?

Good win for Égan. I wouldn’t make too much of him beating the likes of Quintana though. Unless Dayer is all of a sudden the equal of Nairo, this result is all down to relative fitness levels at this point in the season.

At least you only mixed up people who are on the same team...
Though, why were you confused about Dayer celebrating? He won the stage, pretty good reason to celebrate. I didn't watch, did something odd happen?

It was close to awful with Androni. Sky has tweaked his position on the TT-bike and he's won the national title on a route that was designed for legit specialists.

I don't know about the other members here but I got confused. Between the poor camera work, the confusion of the commentators and having cousins and brothers riding for the same teams I got confused!!! :o

Add to the confusion the no communication, therefore riders start turning their heads more often.

Oh well, Egan is a very deserving winner and actually was the strongest in this race. Somebody said here before that Egan was going to win the Colombian championship by leaving the group while Uran and company kept watching each other. Well it happened here. Lol. That also sends a message early on to Quintana and Uran that instead of being too defensive, if they want to win, they should attack or take the initiative more often.

Just watched it and then looked at final results and apparently I had no idea what was going on. I thought Contreras won the stage, Dayer was Nairo, Seb was Sergio, Martinez was Uran... :p

Anyway, the last few stages have been fun. Hopefully the coverage will get better because this will be a great addition if the WT Colombians continue to come. Can you imagine this with Chaves and Lopez also in the mix?

So lessers Henao and Quintana were better than their more heralded relatives today. Who'd have thought that would happen, especially given both were in the mix for the GC win.

The race should change the name for "war and peace". Everybody really happy in the end.

The Colombians have the scary team for Innsbruck. No chances for GVAs, Sagans like. . They can make hell from far on and Rigo can deliver in the end.

We need more races like this in January, February :) . What a crowd, what an atmosphere. Well done.

No they weren't (better than their relatives). They were in a breakaway group which got almost zero coverage, but they were between Contreras and the peloton for the entire duration of the final climb.

Geoghegan Hart was there as well.

The only thing that confused me was the sudden disappearance by Contreras from the front, because the commentators kept saying he would surely win and we hadn't seen anybody in his vicinity. Looking again, one can see Seb and Dayer sprinting past him, but the commentators didn't seem to realise that.

Just watched the last stage. Lmao the coverage was horrible! Like something from the 80's. But the crowds looked like something from the future. I love everything about it :D
