Benoot is serious about this competition it seems. I haven't seen a worse finisher since Rick Flens..
Every cyclists wants to look first-string, bar Bauke Mollema. He doesn't give a **** <-> Thijs Zonneveld

He actually has a decent kick. But always finds himself in position where someones faster. Hes at that point where GVA was a couple of years ago.

He managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory :)

I wonder, I imagine the white jersey in the tour doesn't count in this competition?

He might need 2 min gap before start of the sprint to win

Agreed, his finish is not bad at all. I don't know about Villalobos, but Escuela used to be a bunch sprinter (with a decent TT and on/off climbing prowess) and rode on the track often

Last year he beat Guardini in the bunch sprint. And Villalobos was faster at least today. Not easy for Benoot to beat that even though his sprint is decent. That said, Villalobos did absolutely nothing in Europe last year

At some point, it gets to your head. And even if you don't go on CN or other sites, you know that people joke at your expense. You second guess, over commit, whatever, and lose one more. Vicious circle.

What an excellent and now all-around good rider. I hope Benoot wins something.
When I woke up and saw the yellow jersey that I had left by my bed the night before, I asked myself: "what are you doing in Merckx's bedroom?" I couldn't believe it - Bernard Thevenet

So is Impey out of this due to 1st on GC overall, despite no stage win?

IIRC Froome's first win last year was the TdF GC. He was well up there until then.

Excluding .2 and U23 races, I have Benoot at 61 consecutive top10 without a win since 2014. Is that correct?

I get that too:

2015: 21
2016: 15
2017:20
2018:1

Total: 61

Being versatile ≠ being a winner unless you are Gilbert, Valverde, Sagan, GVA or Kwiatkowski.

There are plenty of versatile riders without any major wins. In fact, most versatile riders don't really have any wins.

Only "pro" races count either as wins or as top 10s for the purposes of this competition, which means .1 ranked or higher.

Cort just launched himself into this; top-10 in all five stages + the overall of the Dubai Tour.
