Dumoulin
Dennis
Roglic (is he even riding?

RR:

damn, the road race is so incredibly hard to predict. This could be completely off (hell, I hope it will be completely off) but I have a gut feeling that all the guys who are constantly called pre race favorites will come up short.

Winner last year, yied for 25th now, old...I'm The New Horner  .

ITT: Dumoulin and the rest I don't care.

My prediction was Valverde for the road race. It's between him and his French clone on paper. But everybody knows it, so it may get very hectic, as riders may take a chance, hope for the two to watch each other.

Here we go: within sight of the line Tibopino comes from behind, puts his guts on the road and opens a gap. Valverde has no choice but to chase him. Balaphilippe follows the Don and out-sprints him. Moscon punches somebody, Nacer wishes he was there.

1. Alaf
2. Bala
3. El Tibo

Every word of that is 100% plausible. IMHO it's the most likely scenario.

WC ITT

1. Dennis
2. Dumoulin
3. Kiryenka

WC RR

1. van Avermaet
2. Weening
3. Valgren

For the TT i think the Giro and Tour will take their toll on Dumoulin, not so much like in 2016 considering also the weaker competition but enough for Dennis to win. For the third place i think is difficult but on a 50+ kms course Kiryenka should have an edge over the other potential medalists.

For the RR i'll stick with my idea of a break that will take out of contention the favourites, there is a lot of potential names, if selected Matthews would have been the favourite in this scenario so i'll go with van Avermaet that is the closest to him. Old school breakway specialist Weening is someone i've thought about since i knew he was selected and Valgren is another that will be there for sure in an eventual late break.
