Looks like a battle between Lopéz and Nibali. But puncheurs can sometimes surprise on Green Mountain. Haas, Devenyns, Felline, even GVA could all do surprisingly well there.

Haas is going for the win and I actually think he can pull off "a Hermans".

"I think I was seventh [it was ninth –ed] on Green Mountain last year and I think that I'm climbing a bit better than I was last year. I'm a little bit lighter, my bike's awesome. I'm going to fight to the end and whether or not I can hold it until the end and maybe even get onto the podium, who knows, it's cycling. You can do pretty special things when you're in front and, hopefully, I can channel something into going fast."

Another win tomorrow (or at least 2nd/3rd for bonus secs) and he has a good chunk of time on Nibali/Lopéz.

Crashed 15 Ks into the stage. Made it back to the peloton. Crashed with 20 Ks to do. Didn't make it back. Might have decided to just take it easy the rest of the stage. GC - if he was ever going for it - obviously out.

I would be surprised if Lopez doesn't win this race, just saw a picture and he looks very much in-shape.

Is GVA on fine form too early?

Like seeing Vaverde on the Mur.

You know this climb suits him well.

Cort Nielsen 6th. s/t as Haas.

He is more than just a sprinter.

Go Greg. He usually isn't this good, this early, but I take that as a good sign. He really has evolved in the last 2-3 years, such an amazing rider. Can't wait for him to toy with Sagan. ;)

I've always seen him as a strongman, not a pure sprinter. He could evolve in something between Kristoff, Sagan or Matthews but he seems lighter.

We'll see on the Green Mountain how good is his shape, the climbers contingent is very poor so he could easily grab a top ten if he's in good form.
Anyway he said that one of his big target this season will be Strade Bianche and that he won't ride Liege so he could have anticipated a bit his preparation.

No.
Just look at the results of Boonen and Cancellara in these early season races the past 10-15 years or so. Or his own results the past few years.

Love me some GVA. He looks really hungry this year. Like a wolf.

Lutsenko also good again. Seems to have taken a step up. I really look forward to Lutsenko in the classics.
