That climb might be a preview of the Tokyo Olympics.

They could have taken some more time on Froome. But for some reason they choose not to.

He had the leeway to attack without being chased.

That said, disappointing ride by the leaders. No one tried.

Can't do nothing on this climb if you're a marked man.

Why did so many other riders not attack out of the peloton

There was a satge and bonuses up for grabs

Maybe some are begining to feel the last 8 days ....

Froom survived another day. Looked completely wrecked at the end, smart thing to put his boys in front.

Historically this climb can't do damage, and there's tomorrow.

Understandable though given that the gradient hardly ever got above 6%, and that tomorrow's stage presents a better opportunity to gain time.

Froome is such an experienced race leader and tactician, after the crash when some might smell blood, he puts up the team to create doubt again. He was on the limit but arrived with the group yet again. Impressive.

«Sky helped for the GC, so did BMC - a lot of teams tried but one rider isn't enough. Not against De Gendt. He's like 10 riders.»

It's a very easy climb, with a hard stage tomorrow. There's every reason not to attack.

What happened to Formolo on Etna?

Can't mark everyone though, and that was perfect for the lower guys to have a shot. Likes of Hirt, Ellisonde, Oomen, Nieve, Brambila, Ullissi should all have been going there for the stage win.

It wasnt an easy climb ...it was ridden at speed
