Stage 1 was won by a solo rider, Gage Hech, surprising the sprint teams:

16km MTT today. Well more of a HTT. Flat run in to 10km at around 4% from what I can make out.

Can't rule out the likes of Dombrowski, Britton and Tvetcov, but Dani has to win the MTT today.

This TT route is used a lot in this race

It's not for TT guys and it's not for climbers. It's for somebody who can do both. I don't see Dombro or Britton winning

Nice win by Hech yesterday.

This TT is more for the all rounders than either TT specialists or climbers. Phinney may do well in this TT.

UHC look like they may end their long run as a PCT team, which would be terrible for North American cycling. If they do fail to find new sponsorship, they will at least have gone out with a bang at the major US races. Two stages at Utah, followed by the stage 1-2 and the GC lead at Colorado

I hadn’t seen that UHC had also gone 1-2 in the women’s race and lead that GC too. That outfit really would be a loss.
