To be fair, it's not difficult for a foreign sprinter to dominate the sprints in the Volta. Especially after Cândido retired, Cardoso going to the WT and with the traditional lack of pure sprinters in Portugal. :p

The most prominate case being Bauhaus in 2014 or 2015, who as a 20 year old 2nd year sub-23 rider was capable of winning 2 stages.

2020 Volta Catalunya due to depart from Alghero, Sardinia
reported in the paper edition of the Nuova Sardegna today.
:)

Alghero has a Catalan speaking enclave and thus the cultural link

And it's not the first time the Volta races there, either.
Last time was in 1986. Sean Kelly won a Volta a Catalunya ITT in Alghero.

That catalan link is why there are so so many sardinians and descendants of sardinians with the surname Catalano

Vuelta 2018 to begin with a time trial in Malaga - hasn't been specified yet whether it's individual or team, though I don't think it will be hard to guess.

What about PRO Ötztaler 5500 race tomorrow. Is there going to be any TV coverage? Does anybody know?
The race profile looks epic for a one day race. There's also chance of bad weather with rain. I know the field is not the strongest but it should be fun nonetheless.

I think I read somewhere that it will be broadcasted on Eurosport 2 and on the ORF. However I also read something about a livestream on the website of the race.

Just when the ORF never shows any cycling they show this great event instead of Servus TV! :(

Does Servus TV ever show cycling though? ORF at least shows highlights of the Österreich Rundfahrt, the WC and this year they also showed the tds stage to the Rettenbachferner. Thats not a lot but at least something

Only mountainbike races I believe. Since Red Bull is a sponsor at some. I hope that they might buy Tour de Suisse rights for years now. But that's not gonna happen sadly enough.

Eeey, Ghisallo + Muro and the Civiglio - San Fermo combo in the finale, this is great. Once again really a climbers edition (as it should be IMO, the finish in Bergamo in 14 is simply way to easy).

The problem is that I believe they'll return to Lecco after that, a.k.a the Purito editions.

Tour de Suisse route looks okay. 2 or 3 hight mountain stages, 2 TT's and the final road stage around Bellinzona could actually be very hard and have an impact on the gc for once.

About the Lombardia route, are you sure they return to Lecco? I thought Como and Bergamo would alternate for the next few year, but I didn't know anything about Lecco.
