Too bad that he preferss MTB over the road or he could challenge sagan for the green jersey in the next couple of years.
Bouhanni doing his best to make sure that his recent small wins don’t encourage too much optimism.
The big problem with the current crop of prominent French sprinters, Bouhanni, Coquard, even Demare is that they just aren’t that fast. Even still, Bouhanni shouldn’t be getting completely pasted by a moonlighting crosser.
I think you'll find out that WvA and MvP could give 80% of the WT a run for their money

The Day Team Sky disappears from cycling I'll truly enjoy watching a mountainous Grand Tour stage again -- former Milan-San Remo winner I interviewed.

I see potatoe power made it to second, good for him.
Kittel however, he's in need of some good training.
Yeah losing to Bennett is one thing, but getting beaten into third in a race with only two genuinely fast guys in it is not a good look in mid June. Gaviria and the rest will be thinking “easy meat”.
Well getting beaten by a b sprinter like Bennett is a disappointment in itself for Kittel
He would expect to usually beat Bennett as he would expect to beat any sprinter when he’s in top form. Kittel has after all been the fastest guy in the sport over the last few years. But he has lost to Bennett numerous times, so it’s not particularly remarkable to do so again. Sprinting doesn’t happen in a lab and nobody beats genuinely fast opposition every single time.
Losing to Raim is a different matter. Raim isn’t one of the guys everyone will occasionally lose to and certainly isn’t the kind of guy a rider who should be the biggest favourite for the Tour sprints should be losing to at this time of year.
It’s the difference between Gaviria losing to Sagan today and him finishing third behind Sagan and Haas. The first is disappointing for him but no big deal, the second would be worrying.

They are certainly bigger talents than 80% plus of the WT, but Nacer shouldn’t be getting completely smashed in a sprint by anyone who isn’t a professional sprinter.

Brenton Jones is a professional sprinter. Van der Poel would beat him 101 out of 100 times.

Damn. Bennett's win ruins Bora's only win in WT statistic.

Ok, something must have gone wrong for him in the sprint. I refuse to believe that he could have messed up his Tour form THAT badly.

Sure. Bouhanni shouldn’t be getting murdered by Brenton Jones either.

That’s Bora’s first non-WT race win of the season.

Kittel got dropped on the last Bensberg ascent and had to chase in a small group for a while just to get back to the main field. The leadout by Zabel was then weak as usually, Kittel sprinted for just 10 m before he stopped - clearly out of energy. Bennett then without a doubt the strongest.

Thanks for this. It does sound a bit worrying for Kittel as there will be multiple more durable sprinters at the Tour whose teams will be trying to rip the legs off him on every bump.

Yeah, but when has Kittel ever not been dropped at every bump?
Fortunately for him, the profiles of the sprint stages in the Tour look very flat.

In a post-race interview he claims a bit of fatigue and jet-lag as he was coming back from a high-altitude training bloc in Colorado.

Highlights of Köln. It turns out there’s not much mystery about why Kittel finished down the order. He sat up as soon as Bennett came off his wheel and overtook him and he knew he wasn’t going to win.

Adam Blythe (Aquablue) wins the Elfstedenronde, a Belgian 1.1. He really needed a win after a long dry spell, so nice to see.

Herman Dahl won the GP horsens Posten, this year it's a 1.1 race.

Adding to that, Mads P. took the win in Fyen Rundt yesterday, which is also 1.1 this year.
And Mørkøv was both second and second-last.
Aka The Ginger One.

So were they three finishers yesterday or was it in the two different races?

Fyen rundt was yesterday, Mørkøv was both second and second-last in that race.
