$800 a year, according to one estimate. But that may be the least of our worries. If this goes on, the world economy could take a major hit.

All these questions are off mark in my opinion..what is the cost to everyone by upending the world economy for some personal vendetta..
Trump has decades of video and written communication about what he sees as America being bent over economically.
His total knowledge is stagnant.
Glaciers are melting..water more scarce..temps reaching extremes never seen.but more significant is people..people going to cities..people communicating..people getting technology that evens the playing field.
Trump has some perspective that doesn't hold water..why is a guy in India or Pakistan not as effective at writing code for an app used on phones held in hands worldwide?
Do people care about who makes their car or clothes or shoes..or hairbrush..or camping tent..or lawn chairs..or garden hose..or fake meat burger?
If toying Trump puts us or any other big economy into an irreversible tailspin who wins?
If China hurts..we don't? If Me Mexico eats tomatoes because of a Trump embargo..what's the point?
The fires started in Iran,Europe,Central,South America..worldwide by Trump will burn us..not if..but when.
He thinks that history can be sealed..sequestered..no fckin' way..his style and the records of the outcomes will be public..just a matter of time. Casinos going out of business? Not a misunderstanding.
Billions in write offs..not a tax technique..a fraud.

When I asked that question, I was referring to a dollar amount, but certainly thinking about other "costs".

President Trump has effectively taken charge of the nation’s premier Fourth of July celebration in Washington, moving the gargantuan fireworks display from its usual spot on the Mall to be closer to the Potomac River and making tentative plans to address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, according to top administration officials.

A good place to announce that because the Trump admnistration has been so good for so many people (the best ever!) Trump will be President for life. Viva le Presidente!

https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/casino-project-puts-spotlight-on-trump-s-web-of-business-political-ties-20190514-p51n38.html
Between a boast about bringing jobs to Ohio and a statement of sympathy for victims of a school shooting in Colorado, President Donald Trump last week found time to tweet about an obscure House bill that would assure a Massachusetts Native American tribe control of 321 acres of land it wants to use for a gambling casino.

The president was against the bill, he wrote, because it was "unfair and doesn't treat Native Americans equally!"

Presidents don't usually get involved in local tiffs over a planned 900-room casino hotel. And even though this president has a four-decade record of slamming Native American casinos as scams that pose unfair competition to other gambling enterprises, notably his own, Trump's decision to weigh in on a measure that had strong bipartisan support seemed unusual for a chief executive who doesn't like to be bothered with the little stuff.

But a closer look at House Resolution 312 and the favour it would do for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe reveals a sprawling network of Trump-related interests, from the National Enquirer to a Rhode Island casino company - a small but strikingly intricate example of the ways this president's business dealings, personal bonds and political alliances can complicate and colour the ordinary doings of government.
...
As a candidate, Trump repeatedly promised to "drain the swamp," describing Washington as a den of elite thieves - politicians, lawyers, lobbyists, domineering corporations - whose interlocking interests were more powerful than any political party or ideological allegiance.

But as president, Trump has embraced the very structures he railed against in the 2016 campaign, for example picking more than 350 former lobbyists to serve in his administration, most in agencies that they used to lobby.

I feel you dirt..But Facebook..is important.as it quickly, maybe not permanently replaced newspapers and magazines overnight..when it became suddenly an employer and political party..we may not have expected it or saw it coming.
When your party happens,birthday,baby's christening..death,birth..divorce,marriage..
And all things social and political..Facebook and the test are there..
Why are 70 year old people interpreting today and our future?
Why are people who wouldn't know a facebook if it was on their coffee table talking about it? Legislating on it?
Vaginas? What does a 70 yo white guy know about the health care of vaginas? Or about a uterus..an ovarian anything?
What are we doing?
Old guys making rules..life or death rules about motherhood or trivially the internet..e commerce?
What are we doing?
Donald Trump in charge of a 16 year old girl and her sexual activity?
Really?

When are the Democrats going to start asking about Trump's math? The calculations of a man that was the single biggest money loser is America for 2 years of the last @20 that we know about. As most of us learned early on in school..teachers over and over demanded that we . Show our work..show your work..if you made mistakes the errors and flawed methodology will be revealed.
Has Trump made errors while doing math..sometimes w figures in the billions and sometimes trillions..?probably..and likely because he has done everything in his head.
Factory outputs in the US is up.period. Has it happened with less people? Yes.absolutely.
First figure that is easy to analyze...where will the @$23 billion dollars that Trump is currently giving to farmers coming from..? What does balance sheet look like?
Democrats and any responsible Republican needs Trump to show his work.

Young people have been moving away from facebook for several years now so I guess that does show that the old white men are behind...they just heard about facebook in 2016 as younger people were moving on. donny prego gut's base is the angry. lower IQ, middle age white people who probably think that they are cutting age because they can see their own picture on their phone. That is how facebook campaigns can effect political things.

Trump keeps talking about tariffs as a revenue source.? He keeps slamming renewable energy? Now there is praise for states that have been able to legislate time..a new meaning to Cher's song..instead of lamenting about lost love ...redneck states making laws to put women in their "place" .
A part of all this that really hits me in the gut is talk of states rights. There was a time when that was the major point in segregation.. "We" should be able to have our schools the way "we"_want. Meaning whites could huddle up and keep everyone else out...by law.
States rights isn't immunization or car seats for our smallest. Tiny babies should still have on a seat belt even if some Alabama Trump spawn finds that idea too liberal for his liking. The idea that parts of our country are toying with a type of local acceptance of discrimination and hate is just too much..
I'm sure that I don't have much in common with the actress Julianne Moore..
But we do share the opinion that women are not a special interest group.
My heart is happy that the Republicans are going to make reversal of women's rights a linchpin of their platform. We are getting ready to see if women think that they have..too many rights and taking some away is acceptable and welcome

Virginia expands range of medical professionals who can perform abortions

U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson struck down a law that says only licensed physicians can perform abortions during the first trimester of a woman's pregnancy, reports the AP.

Why it matters: This decision may increase access to abortions by allowing more medical professionals able to perform the procedure. It comes after a flurry of restrictive abortion bills have been passed across the country. Over 250 bills restricting abortion partially or completely have been filed in 41 states in 2019, according to Planned Parenthood.

Details: In his opinion, Hudson said the law "is unnecessary and provides minimal medical benefits with respect to first trimester abortions" increasing the burden to women who seek abortions, per AP. Midwives, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants with the proper training will be permitted to perform abortions, the Washington Post reports.

Turn women back into pieces of property that men can do with as they please. And to ensure women are nothing more than disposable incubators with no other value and no rights. This group is exceptionally sexist and can't stand women being and demanding full human rights. The literal only thing these laws do are kill women, but this group is fine with that because they want women dead. If they actually cared about life they would do something about the maternal and infant death rates in the US which are more of a 3rd world country than of a developed country.
The scary thing is that the laws being proposed throughout the nation now are even more draconian than the laws were before Roe v Wade. By and large, the doctors performing the operation and not the women were the ones targeted. Not so anymore. Same sex marriage and abortion are firmly in the crosshairs of the GOP, which is why the religious right fought so hard over the SCOTUS seats.

Yep and they want to jail women for having abortions AND miscarriages for any reason. They are making laws with ZERO exceptions. Georgia's law even says they can prosecute and jail women for leaving the state for an abortion AND anyone who helps the woman. How the hell are they going to know if a woman leaves the state for an abortion. Women are going to NOT let anyone know they are pregnant at all and get no medical even for wanted pregnancies and the maternal death rate and infant death rate are going to sky rocket. These laws do nothing more than prove they care nothing for women's lives or health and view all of us as nothing more than incubators. We can only pray this horrible generation of sexist monsters die off soon.
They are trying to turn this country into a theocracy. As crazy as it is, the Satanic Temple is going to play a major role in this as they are fighting these laws based on religious freedom (and thus the Hobby Lobby ruling).
Heck even South American countries are loosening their abortion laws. This country (the GOP) is intent on killing women.

(The bill in GA also states that any abortion for a miscarriage is to be criminally investigated as well to determine if it was intentional. Guess what, there is literally no way to determine if it was intentional or not.) They are literally turning women into incubators with no rights.

There are people who can't comprehend why I want the heck out of this country.

It's worrying that our fear of the unknown..the east..Muslims..we say that the Taliban is extreme..Iran has a religious regime that holds the citizens, country and progress hostage. Strongmen skipping the rule of law to get things done..a dead Russian, Saudi or Filipino enemy of the people. Trump praises the strong leadership..
Seeing the U.S. turn into a picture of Putin..or imaginary crown Prince ruling America..
Are we that different? When our Jesus freaks have raped children carrying babies to term for a political prize?
We see our kids murdered at school and church and we are telling other people their way of life is wrong..?
Trump is only a devil if nobody listens to him..he is only evil if we know right from wrong.
Otherwise doing bad things to children is OK..

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-to-congress-its-none-of-your-business-if-i-break-the-law?ref=home
William Consovoy, the president’s personal lawyer, told a federal judge on Tuesday that Congress was powerless to hold the president’s feet to the fire, and that the Watergate and Whitewater hearings exemplified congressional overreach. As for a House committee’s subpoena to Trump’s accountants, Rep. Elijah Cummings and all those damn Democrats might as well pound sand. The Oval Office was out of bounds for congressional oversight—even in the face of presidential corruption.

Hail Caesar! Hello praetorian. As Consovoy saw things: “That is law enforcement… Are you complying with federal law?… I don’t think that’s the proper subject of investigation as to the president.”

According to Cosovoy’s Kafkaesque syllogism, Congress is barred from investigating the president because that is a proper function of law enforcement, not Congress, and in turn, law enforcement may not investigate President Trump because he is immune from prosecution.

Confused? That’s the point.

It’s a theory

After the court hearing, our constitutional democracy stands at the precipice of being transformed into an updated version of ancient Rome, helmed by a leader who demands unaccountability for himself and tribute from the rest of us. As for Congress in this script, think part rubber stamp, part tax collector, and part tourist attraction.

It is totally about fully controlling and punishing women. Nothing else. You have no idea how relieved I am right now that about 6-7 years ago I was finally able to find a doctor who was willing to tie my tubes. It is disgusting what is going on in this country right now.

I agree with you about the age for running for office as well. I think 60 would be a good starting point for max for age (mostly due to the House having 2 year term limits along with some local offices). Definitely lower the minimum wage. We need more Millennials and definitely need the generation after them running for office.
(otherwise 12-14 more years until hopefully my husband can retire and our hopeful dream of retiring out of the country is doable.) (He just took a new job that gets us a step closer to that even though we have to move and that will make it more difficult short term.)

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Friday defied a subpoena from House Democrats for President Trump's tax returns, a move that's likely to trigger a court battle for the documents.

https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/444241-barr-dismisses-contempt-vote-as-part-of-political-circus
Attorney General William Barr on Friday brushed aside recent criticism from Democrats, calling Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) allegations that he lied under oath "laughable" and dismissing a House panel vote to hold him in contempt of Congress as a "political circus."

Good job these two don't have a personal e-mail server, as they'd be in real trouble.
