Boehner's already walking it back.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/boehner-opens-door-to-new-revenue-to-halt-debt/2012/11/07/2912c5ce-2919-11e2-b4e0-346287b7e56c_story.html

While Boehner suggested that Republicans would still oppose Obama’s plan to take “a larger share of what the American people earn through higher tax rates,” he said the party is open to “increased revenue . . . as the byproduct of a growing economy, energized by a simpler, cleaner, fairer tax code, with fewer loopholes, and lower rates for all.”

It was not immediately clear whether Boehner meant that Republicans would acquiesce only to fresh revenues generated through economic growth rather than actual tax increases. Republicans have long argued that reforming the tax code would generate revenue by improving the economy, an assertion that budget analysts say is difficult to measure. Democrats have insisted that any deal must include tax code changes that would add to government coffers whether or not they help the economy.

But Boehner hinted that he is open to the latter, citing a Republican offer during the negotiations of the congressional supercommittee last fall, as well as his own negotiations with Obama during the 2011 debt-limit battle.

Boehner mentioned his negotiations with Obama in the speech Wednesday, saying: “We’re closer than many think to the critical mass needed legislatively to get tax reform done.”
In other words, we're willing to negotiate now.

Some more classics from the wonderful world of wingnuts.:D

"Thank you Mitt & Ann for your families' sacrifice, as well as Paul Ryan & his family! You all are a bright light & I so hoped we could have elected you as our new leaders to bring honesty & integrity back to our country. Unfortunately, it was not to be...so much adversity, the race was not fair! It is actually amazing the race was as close, considering the MSM working against us at every turn, as well as the rampant voter fraud in every swing state.

I just know that we fought for what we believed & honestly cast our ONE vote each! I can go to sleep tonight knowing that I followed my heart & still respected my fellow man by being honest. 50 percent of our population can't say that! "

"Well come on bankruptcy!!!!
It can't come fast enough for me I want to see those welfare *****s starve!!!! Then we will see if they blame bush!!!! Bwahaha"

"My heart grieves for this country. Too many uneducated voters, bias on tv, I just can't believe this happened. God will not bless this country until we turn back to Him. I pray for those people. Benghazi?! What have we become?"

"All the rich people should protest, close up their businesses and go on welfare too!!"

" Bet Obama would like to blame BUSH FOR BENGHAZI"

"I am with you on this...They just handed our country over to antichrist..."

" Once Benghazi truth comes out.. We can start the impeachment process.."

"I want to put on the back window of my car "You obama are not my president but you are Gods puppet" collect ammo, water, food and supplies we're probably going to need it!"

"Classy response, Rea, typical of a socialist/Marxist. The most violent, most rude, and the biggest drains on our society won last night. Margaret Thatcher put it right when she said socialism works great until you stop finding people to take money from. Sleep in a tent, Rea, loot, rob, and pillage, with your "occupy" brethren."

"Bama really got away with murder in libya"

"He more than got away with murder! he showed them that killing our ambassadors bares no consequence!!"

" Many have already been collecting food storage, gun and ammo. People need go really think about what took place last night. We need to be prepared."

"welcome to the socialist republic of america, where God is attacked and everything immoral is acceptable"

"Obama puts Americans out of work and buys the all our resources from Middle Eastern/Arab countries! Communist!"

" Notice how all the African Americans want Obama back in, hell their gonna loose their free ride if he dont....shame shame...go Romney!!! Go get a job u freeloaders!!"

"The Unions, Womens, Blacks, Immigrants, Gays, Muslims, Welfare people, all helped Obama get re-elected. Sadly, this country will pay the price in the next few month as a depression, war, and lost of wealth will occur. Obama voters will pay the price as will innocent bystanders too."

(Yup, everyone except middle aged and older white men voted the POTUS in):D

"Rosario. guess Jesus likes Obama better than Romney right now because Obama appears to be in the lead."

"That does not mean Jesus loves obama more. Maybe it means this is the beginning of the end, prophecy fulfilled. Someone has to set things in motion"

"BHO will NEVER be my President….he is Hitler re-lived and I hate that thought of living another 4 years under his pathetic dictatorship."

"I agree but its not gonna happen now cause some people wanted their free phones."

Apologies for the length, but it's a quick read. Thank you, and good night.;)

Now that Colorado & Washington have voted to legalize recreational marijuana, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out with the feds. Under federal law, of course, marijuana use is illegal. And federal law generally supersedes state law. But in the case of medical marijuana, the federal law prohibiting marijuana use hasn't been rigorously enforced. So there is a precedent for not enforcing federal law. However, the feds aren't as likely to look the other way with recreational use. Ultimately this thing will end up in the Supreme Court. I wonder how the court's conservative "state's rights" justices will approach this one.:D

Ultimately, recreational marijuana will become legal throughout the nation. It'll take a few years, and some pitched battles, to get there. But get there we will.

I would be happy to offer any interested US party the benefit of my 23 years experience living in a country that was the first to get smart on this issue.

I guess you could say this has been a great year for Clinic liberals. A great month.

Among the many reasons why Romney lost, the Latino vote stands out. He got only 27% of it, down from 31% for McCain and 40% for Bush--while the Latino proportion of the population has grown 25% in that period.

I wonder how much better Romney would have done without the self-deportation comments, and if he had picked Rubio as VP. The latter pick probably would have made the difference in Florida, and would have helped him in Western states like NV, CO and NM. Still would have lost the election, but it might have been a lot closer electorally.

Early predictions for 2016: Hillary vs. Chris Christie. And I like Hillary for that, by that time she will probably be the most experienced Pres. candidate in history. With Bill helping her with the economy, I guess even Scottie would vote for her.

I think that would depend on which direction the Republican party moves over the next 3 years. If the Tea Party psychos continue to gain power then Christie won't win the nomination. They will be sour on him for a while as a consequence of his perceived pandering to Obama in the wake on Hurricane Sandy.

Those phrenology threads in the Clinic are a disgrace. It makes the forum look like a den of crackpots.

Anyone surprised how little Global Warming did not feature in the campaign for President? Is that potentially because of the problems with passing an ETS through Congress therefore is a non-issue?

I think it would be hard to get through at the best of times, but with a weak economy almost impossible. Also very hard to get through the US congress with all the big oil money floating around.

There is a reality distortion field that ends at the Manitoba border (Saskatoon notwithstanding), get away from TO and you quickly forget the embarrassment that is the Leafs.

Thanks Amsterhammer, by your fine research you have just confirmed everything I have said in a previous couple of posts.

The self-serving lack of any public sense is, naturally, appalling; while the mendacity of their statements, which aren't even remotely connected to reality, is grotesque. These guys have no problem with taxation funding the NDDA, but helping the poor with healthcare is evil? And they insolently call themselves Christians?! As far as I'm concerned these folks can just rot in their own provincial hell of America, but then I remember that they are represented by pervious ideologues that want to change everything around the planet and so must be bitterly opposed. For this reason Obama, per force, must have been viewed as the better candidate.

Afterwards I went back and looked it up, it seems it wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought, I was refering to Julia Gillard becoming prime minister

Ahh, back in 2010. The factional bully boys who run the unions put Gillard into power after the massive knifing. Considering the lies she told to get to the leadership, it was quite bad.
