word on the street is he actually is very afraid of descending
meat puppet wrote:Good one.

But that was something. More impressive than Andy at the Tour, IMO. And he just went on to have a safe descent. On the Morti-bleeding-rolo of all places :D

Yes, hence why the guy just said "He went on just to have a safe descent". He attacked a bit to take it easier on the way down.

Sporza said 46 something. You can't compare it, other side they didn't go over the whole thing.

He dislikes descending. That's not just word on the street, but his own words.

Thinks of what could go wrong too often, he says. Was even thinking about (or already did? Not sure) seeing a sports psychiatrist to overcome his fear.

He definitely can, but I don't think he will. I'm expecting a super TT from Ryder tomorrow.

Why is Thomas de Gendt not favourite for tomorrows TT?

He finished 3rd to Tom Martin in 2011 TdF TT Stage 20 day after Alpe D'huez

1. MARTIN Tony 175 HTC - HIGHROAD 55' 33"
2. EVANS Cadel 141 BMC RACING TEAM 55' 40" + 00' 07"
4. DE GENDT T 203 VACANSOLEIL-DCM 57' 02" + 01' 29"

Hesjedal same TT:

62. HESJEDAL Ryder 55 GARMIN - CERVELO 1h 00' 29" + 04' 56"
"ahaha, ever had the feeling you been cheated?" JL SF Jan'78.

Well Hesjedal didnt cared too muchabout his GC position as they locked the team classification probably and he was the best at prologue amongst contenders

Also at the Tour De Gendt said he was taking it easy untill the final stages because he got sick. Right now I dont think he has that amount of energy left ;)
