WVA also mentioned the chain drop as a result of a bad shift...

Yes, but was he pressuring him when the shifting issue happened?

“I shifted wrong and my chain dropped. It’s a pity that I lost the race because of this incident." - seems it was in some decisive moment, maybe before/during the final sprint. WVA pressured MVP (both of them stated that) for at least half of the race but then eased a little bit which he (WVA) admitted later that it was probably a mistake. The course wan't much suitable for dropping MVP though. MVP even has a ankle injury ongoing so his performance is even more impressive.
Looks like we have another season of those two being in the league of their own in front of us.
Shut up, Jens!

He wasn't on the Koppenberg. Most entertaining race in a while.

Can someone answer a quick question? Came across this bit in the CyclingTips Daily News Digest, about Thibau Nys:

He has a son, Thibau. The younger Nys is 15 years old but is racing as a 17-year-old due to the UCI’s funky rules when it comes to racing age for cyclocross.

What are those funky rules? In road racing you're considered to be "an age" the entire year, even if your actual birthday is on December 31st.
I guess since cross-seasons run over NYE it just gets even more funky, enabling/forcing riders to be two years older than they actually are.
Aka The Ginger One.

It sounds like the KBerg was a good race! Aerts is solid and plays his cards well. Nice ride for Vantourenhout as well, and we know that Van Aert is good. MVDP showed that you can't be great every race, but nobody is saying "well we don't have to worry about him anymore."

How can the IT champ be left off of the IT team?! Not to mention that she is in the top of the UCI rankings. Why only send two riders if your plan is to develop riders? Send five young ladies to get their feet muddy, and send the champ to guide them.

Thibau Nys is currently in the junior category which is known as the U19 category in some countries as he is 16 currently. This is for riders between the age of 16 and 18 who will turn either 17 or 18 by the 31st of December of that year (e.g This cx season it is for riders born in either 2000 or 2001).
With the 2018/19 season being classed as the 2019 cyclocross season, riders who are first year juniors will be 16 when they start in september and if their birthday is in either January or February will finish their first year of cyclocross as a junior as a 17 year. If a first year junior's birthday is in December you could say they are at quite a disadvantage of a second year junior who's birthday is in January as that basically means they are racing someone who is two years older in development as a young athlete.

I'm glad the others kept MVDP honest today, but he is just better than the others for now.

EDIT: X2 for the weekend!

It seems much like a copy/paste of last year. MvdP largely dominates, apart from the occasional offday

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to watch the last few races, but looking at the results, did Toon Aerts step up this season or did Wout van Aert get a bit worse?

I have the impression Aerts definitely stepped up. The last few years he had some good results in the more difficult crosses (Koppenberg, Baal, Gavere,...) and even a victory in the European championship two years ago (but that was mainly because VA and VDP were eyeing each other), but this year he gave Van Aert a run for his money in the two first worldcup races and he smashed the field during the cobbled climb in the Koppenbergcross.

More MVDP. As hard as it is, I hope that the others aren't losing hope, and they keep hunting the top of the box. I think that the mental part of WVA life is getting to him?

Van der Poel seems on a whole other planet nowadays. I think today was the first time he actually went 100% until the finish. On a 'easy' cross, still 2 minutes (apart from Meeusen)..

Like I said, only on a really hard climb course where he can't murder everyone and where he is susceptible to bad days he's beatable. On the other races hardly at all
