More than half the stages MTFs.

Unlike last year, there will be one or two arrivals after the descent of a port: one after the Collado de las Sabinillas (in Sierra Nevada, Granada).

I'm assuming the writer means Collado de las Sabinas. Typical, I wear the profile to that climb as my avatar since I registered here, then I change it and days later this comes out...

If they do climb it, my guess is they'll do it combining the Puerto de Monachil + Collado de las Sabinas, as they did in 2009:

So they'd climb this (the dark brown part):

Which would be pretty ****ing sweet.

Of course, they could make my dream come true and make it harder by climbing this:

I know! I've been in love with that climb since they asphalted the hard bit. :D

The second to last one isn't bad either though. It's the climb they used in 2006 PLUS this:

This is the 2006 stage, which ended up being terrific, with Vino + Kasheshkin vs Valverde.

The top of the climb is actually just 20 km from the finish... I don't know who did the stage profiles back then.

Peñas Blancas!!!

Just to climb to Peñas Blancas is very similar to Hautacam, but then throw in that final 6km up to Pico de los Reales and you have a real tough mountain there.

I came here to say "btw, wasn't Peñas Blancas the climb Libertine talked so much about?". Too late it seems. :D

Let's not get carried away though, Hautacam is quite harder than Peñas Blancas.

more than half the stages MTF, plus two descent finishes... how many stages will not be won by a gc guy? :o
A race that doesn't give an attacker the chance to finish it off alone is not a race anymore.

wait wat?!!!! ok vuelta ruined with an overkill of 1k steep hill finishes :o

they really must want rodriguez to win it next year. to make it more obvious all they had to do is make it 1 minutes bonus time per stage win for rodriguez only

I wouldn't say it's the one I've talked about a lot, though in between that and Picón Blanco they've had a bit of love from me over time. I do think it's a hugely overlooked climb though, both by races and indeed by us fans, as that area is not the most common for fantasy race planning.

UCI is starting an investigation into Joaquim Rodriguez. They have been tipped he's bribing Unipublic to design stages in his favor.

If only.

I was referring to the second part of your post.

I doubt there has even been a GT with more than half the stages as MTFs.

lol, the **** did yall expect? Last year it was all mtfs and it got super high ratings and all the home media declaring it the best Vuelta ever.

Of course they will repeat.

Few laps around worlds course looks good though. Something tells me they will be using the tt model though.

You need balance.
And you need variety.
It's wrong to have so many MTFs, as it would be wrong to have 10 stages for sprinters.
