Lol, no wonder Jrod is thrown out of the WT. He bribed Unipublic.
Ryo Hazuki wrote:horrible. boonen just the same guy as years before and this course is too hard for him. that's why he rode like a coward there were at least 3 guys stronger than boonen today and none of them won: sagan, ballan, pozzato

As far as I know Mourtis is on top of Mente.
I hope for Portillon - Superbagneres.

Or Balès + Peyragudes. (Or Balès + Superbagneres).

Not happening though.

Here's the J-Rod-bribery Vuelta (implausible in places).

1) Prologue: Gibraltar - El Peñón de Gibraltar (ITT) (profile)
2) La Linea - Cerro el Moro/Mijas (profile)
3) Málaga - Archidona (Santuario de la Virgen de Gracia) (profile)
4) Loja - Valdepeñas de Jaén
5) Jaén - Turre (Ruinas el Dondo) (profile)
6) somewhere near Turre - Cartagena (Castillo de San Julián) (profile)
7) Murcía - Xorret del Catí (profile - finish just under 2km after summit)
8) Albacete - Cuenca (Castillo) (profile - around 1,5km. Where Purito won his national championships)
9) Castellón de la Plana - Benicassim (ITT) very hilly, based on 2011 Spanish nationals course
10) Barcelona - Vallcebre (short descent then mild uphill final kilometre after ascent of Fumanya-Pradell) (profile)
11) La Seu d'Urgell - Col de Menté/Ski Station Mourtis (profile)
12) Bagnères-de-Luchon - Hoz de Jacá (profile)
13) Pamplona - Zarautz/Orio (after descent from double ascent of Aia) (profile)
14) Zarautz - Santuario de Urkiola (profile)
15) Durango - Iondogorta (profile)
16) Bilbao - Peña Cabarga
17) Gijón - Valdeferreiros (profile)
18) Lugo - Ourense (Costiña de Canedo 8km from finish) (profile)
19) Ponferrada - Estación de Esquí El Morredero (MTT) (profile)
20) Valladolid - San Lorenzo de El Escorial
21) wherever - Madrid

Pretty much all perfect for Purito - few climbs that could be considered too long for his optimum, all about the steepness, those stages that aren't MTFs give him something nice and steep to make an advantage on that he can hold to the end, like at Lombardia or País Vasco 2010, a stage starting in his birthplace, an all-too-rare trip to another country, and even leaving out a few places like the Castillo de Burgos and Mirador de Ézaro so he can come back the next year.

It's actually a bit further up, but when actually including a genuine full length brutal climb, Unipublic have made it their business to only finish part way up, eg Ancares, Dornajo, Canolich, Peñas Blancas.

what many whiners here forget is that this gt will 100% be won by a pure climber like last year. because all the back to back mountain finishes means guys like nibali, wiggins and many more stand no chance

Shouldn't a GT be won by the best allrounder?

And this is a.... normal thing in this age, isn't it?
A race that doesn't give an attacker the chance to finish it off alone is not a race anymore.

if he can't, he's not an all-rounder.

According to spanish sources: pirenean stage will end in France. Many options: Superbagneres, Piau Engaly, Peyragudes or Val Louron.

You sure have a strange meaning of "Can't climb"

It would be great but the stage is supposed to start at Andorra, so Canto and Bonaigua are sure and to pass to France, they have to climb Portillon... and if you add the other three climbs it seems too much ( impossible for Unipubliv indeed).

One possibility would be Canto-Bonaigua-Portillon-Peyresourde-Val Louron or Adet .
Piu Engaly is another finish that is looking possible
