Here is my homage to one of the best climbers ever, and one of the few real rivals that Merckx had ... thanks for all Tarangu :

Thanks apmfbs for an awesome thread, and website.

To me the 1975 Tour had some of the best lore to it. I recall seeing a newspaper photo of Merckx, after the stage where the spectator had punched him in the gut. The photo was black and white and Eddy was lying on his back, I believe in a hotel room, with his arm over his eyes, completely exhausted. That one picture was worth more than a thousand words, and I'd love to see it again if you (or anyone else) can dig it up.

First of all, thanks for the commentaries to you and Fauniera.

Here you have my two articles about Pra Loup 1975, with some photographs, included ( I think, the one you want)

This is the photo you want I think

There are photos of Merckx crying in a hotel, but those photographs are of the Giro 1969, when he was expulsed for doping while being leader:

You are awesome! That's it! I actually thought there is a sequence of photos from that moment, and I'm remembering a different photo, but this is probably it, that's the picture that tells the story how Merckx essentially lost the Tour nearly 40 years ago now.

A new article in the magazine DLC, about Kelly and his relationship with the Tour

Unfortunately we'll never know how good Kelly could have been at the Tour. He was forced through most of his career to chase the green jersey as well as the GC. He had to sprint for every single intermediate point and try to win every flat stage. He said it left him absolutely exhausted by the time the mountains came around and he just didn't have the energy left.

Another article in the magazine DLC, now about the Spanish climber Ángel Arroyo, one of the key names to rise the Spanish cycling in the 80s, and a good " teacher" for a youngster Delgado.

Ten years ago, a great and controversial champion died, so it is a good moment to hommage him and that is what we have done in " Plataforma".:

Marco Pantani- Una vida al ataque.

First part:

1994-. Nace el mito.

Year 1974, Fuente is in very good shape, and the Vuelta crosses his homeland, Asturias,..., but things won´t be as easier as expected.
