Besides two smashers of cycling Classics, in last five years there have been several notable breakers.

I guess you're asking us who we think the third man of Belgian cycling is?

Thomas De Gendt in my opinion.
Ryo Hazuki wrote:horrible. boonen just the same guy as years before and this course is too hard for him. that's why he rode like a coward there were at least 3 guys stronger than boonen today and none of them won: sagan, ballan, pozzato

Is he better than Van Den Broeck?

JVDB is a TdF placement rider. He got 4th in 2012. Next year he may get 5th. He will be happy with that.

Vanmarcke is more interesting.

Serfla, you will probably get a better response if you spell out the point you are trying to make.

Otherwise this thread simply invites nonsense results which will probably get it closed.

serfla, it'll help if the title is self descriptive, and you mention the names of those riders. Just sayin' :)

It was a reference to evaluation of De Gendt.
Vanmarcke fits better in the group, though.

Yes. The nonsense equal to comparing Boonen and Cancellara.
"The second men of Swiss cycling" thread is missing.
But I'm not sure there's more than one (man).

^^^I have no idea what you're talking about

But I would like to nominate 2 of my favorites: Leukemans & GVA

Yep, for one-day races it's between Leukemans and Van Avermaet right now. I rate consistency and versatility higher than "lucky" Monument wins, though.

But I do.
During the last seven years Boonen collected half of cobbles.
"The third men of Belgian cycling" together collected more than a half of what's been left.
Where's Cancellara in the equation?

De Gendt better than VDB? Is that really a question? It's just a matter of panache, style and racing mentality, regardless of the talent that I recognize that Van den Broeck has.

As I said - they're different kind of riders comparing to "the third men".
But you can suggest the third in their league.
Maybe Vanendert?

Gilbert i think after his WC win expoused about how good Leukemans was, saying something along the lines of we were the 2 strongest (i think).
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong
