I think he did a road season last year, with decent results, so I assume he's going to the road this season again, but I don't know anything about his intentions to become either a road or cross cyclist in the future.

Indeed. Born in 1995. Insane talent!

World and European cycle-cross champion. As a first year junior!

He won all the world cups as well. He had 30 cycle-cross starts in 2012 and he won all 30. Went through the entire season unbeaten.

On the road he is excellent as well. Showed his qualities as a climber in Tour du Valromey. Good punch on smaller hills as well! Can TT and sprint. Pure class on a bike.

2 Mads Pedersen - Team Roskilde Junior
3 Casper Pedersen - Team Roskilde Junior

First season as a junior, he is doing pretty well so far. He is also riding Juniors Paris-Roubaix with the Danish national team :)

Hello, this is maybe the wrong thread but I didn't know where else to ask - what do people know about swedish youngster Fredrik Ludvigsson (1994)? He rides with Team People4you - Unaas Cycling and has just won the 2.2 Boucles de l'Artois race and has finished 5th in the 2.2 Tour de Normandie.
piccoli equivoci senza importanza.

Younger brother of Tobias Ludvigsson from Argos – Shimano.

Fredrik Ludvigsson is 1.87cm - 72kgs. Born 28,04,1994.

Stage-race material. Good time-trailer but also a really good climber.

On Team Unaas training camp on Gran Canaria this January, he did a mountain test up the Morgan climb. Two years ago his big-brother did the 8,3km with an average gradient of 6% in 21mins clean. This year, Fredrik did it in 20.31.

F. Ludvigsson and Marcus Faglum-Karlsson are exciting prospects.

Last year it was another Mads (Würtz Schmidt) who won.
Great that two Danes win back-to-back :)

Hope both will win again when they are seniors.

PS His name is Mads Pedersen ;)
Mark Cavendish: Are people so naive they think cycling's the only sport with a hidden past?
Maybe it's just the only sport where a hidden past's come out.

Yup! It's a good thing to be called 'Mads' (and be Danish) if you wanna win the Junior P-R! :D

Will Pedersen still be a junior next year, or will they have to go looking for a third Mads?
In Italy when you need a coffee you need the right barista, so you need to teach Chris [Juul Jensen] how to make the right coffee.

He wont be a junior anymore in 2014. But maybe a different Pedersen (Casper, who is mentioned in this topic by Bushman) can win PR 2014 ;).

But it's obviously the name Mads that's the key to winning! :p

Lets give this topic a bump.

Image

Mathieu Van Der Poel won the first stage yesterday in Course de la Paix (2.NCup) in front of Mads Pedersen and Nathan van Hooydonck. 3 of the biggest talents in the junior category.

Mads Pedersen won stage 2A a short time trial this morning and takes over the lead in the GC from Van Der Poel who came in 8th (he had a little trouble with his knee and couldnt produce as much power as he would have liked).

Image

Later today there is a 63K stage with a punchy finish.

Elie Gesbert won todays stage.

He was at the front with Van Der Poel after the last climb. Van Der Poel got a flat with 10K to go (he still got in 3rd though).

So you mean to tell me that after an undefeated season in the cross, in his first road race, against strong competition, he won a sprint, then got 8th in the TT despite knee problems and then 3rd in a hilly stage despite flatting in the final?

No, he started his road season with a 14th place in a belgium race. After that he won a small race in the Netherlands, then got 12th in a small race in NL and then won a small race in belgium.

So the victory in the first stage of Course de la Paix (which is a big junior race) was his 5th road race day of the season (unless im missing some results in very small races).

Bump.
I mentioned him before, but I will just give a short Update on Casper Pedersen. This was his first season as a junior and he has done really well. He has ridden some of the biggest junior races like Trofeo Karlsberg, Paris-Roubaix, Tour of Istria and Grand Prix Rüebeland. He has mostly been a helper and has been a really strong one (especially in PR where he was took his final turn for Mads Pedersen about 12 k out on the third or second to last cobblestone section) but he has also had some decent results like 8th in the tt in Trofeo Karlsberg and 9th in the gc in Istria (2nd in the youth competition).

His best results though has come on the track where he got a bronze medal in the junior track worlds Omnium, which was his biggest goal of the season. And then yesterday he was 3rd in the Danish elite champs in Omnium behind Møller Nielsen and Casper Folsach.

It is of course too early to say what type of rider he will be, but he is certainly a very strong roleur with a good itt and decent kick on the shorter hills. He also has quite a strong finish (but by no means a sprinter).

Would be very interested if you guys had any information about som exciting youngsters.

He can't be a junior and only a few people know who he is, since you did not provide a name.
